Season 3 Of 'The Crown' Was Just Released, And I'm Not Impressed

If you haven't already binged it, season 3 of the wildly popular and successful Netflix series "The Crown" was released on November 17. A dramatization of Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family, the show begins with the beginning of her duties as queen and follows her throughout her reign while depicting significant events in British history.

Following a very immersive and addictive first two seasons, season 3 saw a radical change. All of the characters were entirely recast to reflect the years that have passed. The first two seasons saw a young and beautiful Clair Foy as Queen Elizabeth and wild Matt Smith as her husband Prince Philip, reflecting the young couple in a realistic light and detailing the problems in their marriage and Elizabeth's struggles throughout her early years as queen.

Season 3, however, took on a very different tone. The queen ages significantly and is newly portrayed by Olivia Colman, who delivers a performance entirely reflective of the queen's reputation of being a cold and emotionless woman. Prince Philip is taken over by Tobias Menzies, who delivers Philip's aristocratic and snobby persona to a tee.

I was not impressed by the latest installment of the series. After the first two seasons, I was addicted to and fascinated by this other world that engulfs the royal family. It was interesting, entertaining, and had me googling when the next season would come out.

Well, it did come out, and I honestly struggled somewhat to get through it. There were some good episodes, of course, but as a whole I found the cast underwhelming and the plot redundant. I mean, how many times must we see Princess Margaret go into a downward spiral? Olivia Colman also was a bothersome actress to watch, but I soon realized this might have been the goal of the producers. The queen, in reality, is not known to be endearing, enjoyable, or emotional, and Coleman delivers this perfectly, but it still doesn't mean she is fun to watch. And don't even get me started on Tobias Menzies, who plays the queen's husband. Every time he spoke, I wanted to turn off the TV, but I guess beggars can't be choosers, right?

The characters from season 3 will continue in their roles for season 4 in what is predicted to be a very exciting season as we will finally be introduced to Lady Diana Spencer and the turbulence that will follow her introduction to Prince Charles and the rest of the family. Although I was underwhelmed by the newest season, I remain loyal to the series and am excited to see what comes next for the royals.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
