On Wednesday September 21st, Chicago PD's season four premiered on NBC, and it picked right back up from the season three finale. On the season finale from May, we know that Hank Voight's (Jason Beghe) son, Justin was killed which was very heartbreaking for Voight as that was his only child. Further, we know that Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) found Voight the night that Justin's murderer was killed and viewers know that Voight did indeed kill the killer as revenge for his son's gruesome death.
The premiere episode titled "The Silos" opens up with Erin having a nightmare of the night where Voight killing Justin's killer. Erin knows that Voight killed the suspect because she heard a gun shot driving away from the scene. Commander Crowley played by Barbara Eve Harris knows that Voight killed the suspect, and tries to get Lindsay to spill the beans and stop trying to protect her boss as it will cause trouble for her career. Bush's character is an accomplice because she knew exactly what Voight was going to do when he made her leave the scene of the soon to be murder.
Voight always seems to be in trouble of some sorts, fans of the show saw him in jail because they know he is a dirty cop. He may play dirty on the streets of Chicago because he wants to get the bad guys in custody, but the audience knows that he is very caring to all the victims and his team.
Lindsay hides her knowledge of knowing what Voight did because he saved her when she was fifteen years old and got her off the streets. She told Voight that it was her time to save him, and she is all that Voight has left.
Some questions that viewers are left with after the season premiere is where is the dead body of the man Voight killed? Did he hide the body, or was it it Lindsay who hid the body to save her boss and father figure?
Other than that question, Chicago PD never disappoints at all. Patrol Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has a new partner on the job. Her new partner just came a court house police job writing tickets because her old boss at her former district harassed her. So the new female police officer seems to be an interesting character to keep an eye on this season.
In reviewing the season four premiere episode, it could have been stronger as PD's season openers have always been action packed and this was not so action packed. It was hard to keep focus, so hopefully next weeks episode will be better.
Chicago PD airs on Wednesdays at 10pm on NBC. Chicago Med airs on Thursday nights at 9pm and Chicago Fire premieres on Tuesday October 11th at 10pm.
