Dear College That Sent Me A Rejection Letter,
I am writing to tell you how the past four years have gone since I got a rejection letter from you.
I may not have gotten the SAT scores that you required, but I graduated high school within the top 25% of my class. While completing all of my assignments and studying for tests, I participated in multiple clubs as well as went to work five days a week.
Since getting a rejection letter from you, I went to a different school that was a bit more reasonably priced, a bit bigger and a bit more of what I was looking for. Since you were my number one school, I thought there was no school that could compare, but oh, was I wrong.
I think as a young adult applying to college without a good idea of what I wanted, I was certain that you were the only one for me. Because I didn't know much about colleges, where I wanted to be located, or what I wanted to do in life, I assumed that you would be able to help me out. The other school that accepted me has changed my life more than you ever would have.
So thank you, school that rejected me. Thank you because without you, I was able to do so much more than I ever thought possible. Thank you for rejecting me, because by going to another school, I was able to meet my forever friends, to perform at the Super Bowl, to find the love of my life, to have 150 sisters, to get an impressive internship, and to live with my best friends.
I'm happy with the direction my life is going thanks to the school that accepted me. I have to believe that when one door closes, another opens. This school has opened so many doors for me and I am eternally grateful for all the opportunities, education, and experiences it has provided me with.
Thank you,
A senior who is not ready to leave.
