SARMs are selective androgen receptor modulators that are becoming famous among bodybuilders and fitness and muscle fanatics. They are an advanced and innovative discovery in the field of androgenic drugs. It is a game-changer in the field, as SARMs are highly superior to any other class or type of Androgenic steroids.
SARMs vs Other Steroids:
Androgenic steroids and other types of steroids may help develop and help in the growth of muscles. However, the use of such steroids brings along with it several undesirable effects. Such ill effects are harmful to the body in several ways and affect males and females.
For example- Androgenic drugs may bring about acne, breast development, also clinically referred to as gynecomastia, shrinking of testicles and the enlargement of the prostate. In women, the ill effects may vary from an excess development in body hair, acne and increased clitoral size.
While such ill effects are different for men and women, there are much more severe ill effects that the use of such steroids can put someone in danger of. Severe complications among all genders include liver damage, a higher chance and number of cardiovascular complications and an increased risk of heart attacks and blood clots in the body.
This is where the SARMs are superior. SARMs have the same effects as androgenic drugs but are much more selective in the nature of their actions. This selective nature of their actions allows them to be more widely used and accepted than anabolic steroids.
What are SARMs? Why are they better?
Selective androgen receptor modulators, also known as SARMs, were first introduced as a type of drug developed mainly to lessen the vast variety of side effects that usually accompany anabolic-androgenic steroid hormone therapy( AAS Therapy). As SARMs selectively target and take action against the medical conditions which already exist while also trying to reduce any unintentional and unwanted effects, they present themselves as a safer and more reliable alternative to the use of AAS.
As a therapeutic compound, they have similar anabolic properties to anabolic steroids but with a reduced amount of androgenic properties. Androgenic properties include the typical produced male characteristics, including synthetic testosterone and having effects similar to testosterone.
As a biological target, they target the Androgen receptors in the body. In the medical setting, the SARMs have great potential to solve specific issues and treat a wide variety of pathologies. These include medical issues like cachexia which is muscle-wasting and osteopenia that is low-bone density. They are also being researched to treat several other severe health issues like cancer, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, osteoporosis, end-stage liver disease, end-stage renal disease, and HIV.
Taking the recreational route, the SARMs being a safer alternative to AAS use, have users of SARMs have noticed a significant amount of muscle gain, a cut above what people are being able to generate naturally.
Chemically, the SARMs can be categorized into steroidal and nonsteroidal SARMs. The steroidal SARMs are formed by modifying the chemical structure of the testosterone molecule. The SARMs have had to achieve tissue selectivity of androgen action.
Legal Status:
While the legal status cannot be explained so quickly, as there exists a lot of discourse behind the curtains, in November of 2019, the Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators Control Act of 2019 was introduced in the United State's Congress. It was intended to be introduced and put to as an extension of the Controlled Substances Act, where regulated drugs receive "schedules" by their potential for abuse. By the act, the derivatives of AAS are categorized into Schedule III, so it was thought that SARMs would also be put in the Schedule III bracket. However, the act was never officially passed, which leads to a problem.
Being renowned for a drug that aids in muscle building without any ill effects s along with the solid potential to treat many medical issues, the SARMs have attracted attention from both bodybuilders and researchers. However, due to the grey area in which they exist, SARMs are now available online to be bought as a research chemical not to be consumed by humans.
