Rush Week As Told By Mean Girls

The Many Faces Of Your Recruitment Chair During Rush

Rush Week As Told By Mean Girls
Dailymail

Rush. Recruitment. These two words will strike fear and anxiety into the hearts of sorority women everywhere. Older members, who have been through the ringer several times, have nightmares of recruitments gone wrong. Newer members, who have never gone through recruitment on the sister side, are excited. Women going through recruitment are nervous and excited about meeting all of these new women and finding their home, wherever it may be. It’s either your favorite part of sorority life, or it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The stress during the week of recruitment is palpable, especially if you spend any amount of time around the president and recruitment chair. So in true "sratty" fashion, here are the many emotions of recruitment as told by "Mean Girls."

1. When you see the younger sisters who have never been through recruitment counting down until it starts:

2. When the younger sisters are getting all excited about how awesome and fun it’s going to be, and you just don’t have the heart to break theirs:

Because how can you crush their dreams?

3. When the Greek Council keeps changing the schedule on you:

Like ... could you not?

4. When someone asks you a question that you don’t know the answer to:

"Are we wearing black dresses or white dresses?"

"Yes."

5. When you realize you forgot to come up with a vegan/gluten-free/vegetarian option for the menu:

6. When you're trying to put the fear of God into the chapter members in order to keep from getting an infraction:

7. When there is that one person who keeps talking smack on Greek Life and scaring PNMs, but then they try to be all buddy-buddy:

Could you not?

8. The entire chapter the night before the first night of rush starts:

9. When there is that one sister who keeps asking questions right after you've given the entire chapter the answer:

Because you're really tired of having to repeat yourself.

10. When a classmate asks you why you haven't bothered to dress up for class ... or anything that isn't rush related:

11. When you're told that something went wrong with the decorations and you have to make a last-minute fix right before the parties start:

12. When you realize that there was a miscommunication between the chapter and the advisory board:

13. When someone hands you a drink at the end of the first night of rush:

14. When there are sisters clapping off-beat during the songs:

Guys ... get it together.

15. When Nationals pisses you off and changes the game mid-rush:

16. When you are too tired to go to class, but you know that your professor won't excuse you for being too tired:

17. When the last PNMs are leaving after the last party of the week:

18. When you realize that the entire chapter left instead of helping to clean and set up for the next night:

19. When you're halfway through the week, but you've already hit your lowest:

20. When your parents, professors, or non-affiliated friends don't understand all of the rules and hoops you have to jump through:

21. When you made it all the way through rush and remember all of the assignments you have due, but you can't motivate yourself to do them:

22. When rush is finally over and you realize how much you love your sisters, why you put up with them, and you're just so happy that this is your home and these are your sisters:

From one recruitment chair to all of the rest, happy rush and happy bid day! Don't worry, you'll make it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
