After working for Sherwin Williams Paint company, I have realized that color has a major impact on your mood and daily activities.
Color is more than the outfit that we choose and the lipstick to match. From the time we are born we are associated with a color. Pink for girls and blue for boys. Red is associated with Valentine's day, roses and love. Besides Black making you look skinny, it is also associated with death and funerals just as white is associated with purity and a wedding dress.
However, color is deeper than that . In this article I will break down some emotions that color can evoke.
Red is a color that can surprisingly increase your appetite. For instance, Mcdonalds, Burger King and Chic-fila all have some type of red in their design. Besides food red also is associated with passion, courage , strength , aggression and defiance. Red will never let you down when you are going a date !
Green is a very popular color for bedrooms. However, we most commonly see green tints in hospitals. It is known to calm the mind and allow the body to relax ! When green strikes the eye it is not sharp and does not need much adjustment which is why it's calming !
Grey is a color that people love to put in their homes. It is popular because it is a neutral it also goes with just about every color. Grey is the only color that has no true psychological effect. However it can be associated with hibernation, dampness and lack of confidence. The episode of The Fairly odd parents on Nickelodeon and everyone was grey was the worst episode and very depressing.
Black is a color that is very popular in fashion. Black can make you feel protected which also relates to why people feel it is a color that slims you down. Kim Kardashian , a fashion icon has truly shined a spotlight on how fashionable it can be. Black is associated with glamour, sophistication and professionalism.
White is a color that is associated with hygiene and purification. If you ever watch a commercial with for feminine hygiene products, the women are always wearing white . It is to show you how clean you will remain if you are wearing their products. Also at some churches when people get baptized or have christening they are dressed in white to symbolize their purity.
Blue is a color that is suppose to bring out the social side in you. Hence, Facebook, twitter, myspace, periscope and even some dating websites use blue as their main color !
These are just a few colors with some of their meanings behind them. Colors can not only affect how you feel but also can allow others to form a perception about you just by looking.
