Separation anxiety begins to kick in.
It hasn't even been 24 hours and you are already freaking out that you have to live without them for three whole months. Now you have to live in a room by yourself. Who is going to take care of you when you are drunk?
Video chats, phone calls, and text messages.
You send her the, "Ugh I miss you so much" text message. As soon as you leave each other there is no doubt that you both will be blowing up each others' phones with text messages. You declare your love for them and let them know how much missing them is causing so much pain in your heart.
All of your friends at home understand your pain when you aren't with your roommate.
I mean, can anyone else put up with your drunk messy self? She is the one who walks your ass home when you can't even see two steps in front of you. She is the one that will see you eating way more food than you can actually consume and not judge you.
...this is why you can't live without them.
They see you at your ultimate lows and still seem to hangout with you.
Between bodily functions that go on, bad hygiene, binge eating, and crying dramatically over the boy next door, she still will put up an Instagram picture of the two of you no matter how ugly you look.
You don't actually have to go to the gym.
Why would you two bother going to the gym when you can make each other laugh so hard that you suddenly have a six pack of abs (just kidding)? The only six pack you have is of Bud Light.
You would rather stay home and eat Chinese than go out.
There are many nights when you just don't feel like getting ready, so you think of every excuse in the book. Luckily, you can look over at your roommate and she feels the same exact way. So you order some sesame chicken with fried rice, or if you have enough money you buy some California rolls and watch "Jersey Boys" on your Saturday night.
But when you two do go out you have zero regrets.
She cleans the room when it gets too messy.
The two of you are polar opposites. You would rather have the room messy than to take out time to clean it. She on the other hand has to live in the cleanest room. So, when you go to class, it is her time to turn the room from a complete mess to a beautifully clean room.
She is your best friend.
Growing up you have so many friends from home. But the bond you have with your roommate is unlike any other friendship. She is like your mom, sister, house keeper, and best friend all in one. Now that you two know each other better than you know yourself, you can't imagine living without them. You dread even thinking about not living with them one day.
If you aren't basically in a committed relationship with your roommate then you should consider applying for a new roommate.
