10 Signs Your Roommate Doubles As Your Best Friend

My roommate truly is my best friend, and I have no idea what I would do without her.

I have heard so many people talk about how awful it is to have a random roommate. I didn’t really know anyone who was going to be rooming in my dorm so I had a random roommate, and it was the best thing for me. I had never met my roommate before move in day. Honestly it was terrifying, but after being alone for two weeks due to band camp I was so ready. My roommate truly is my best friend, and I have no idea what I would do without her.

1. She shaves my head.

This is one for the books. I have an undercut, and after having been by myself for two weeks it was about time to have it shaved again. The day she moved in I asked her to shave my head, and now it’s something we do every two weeks. Talk about trust.

2. We have a netflix show.

We started watching “The 100” together, and now when we get the chance we pull out the couch and binge. This started during Irma when we literally watched it all day long.

3. She understands I stay busy.

LOL, I stay busy. I have something that I do every day of the week, and she totally gets it. I have one day that is particularly busy and she always asks when I will be back so we can go grab food.

4. We love the same things.

This one is odd. When we first got our roommate assignment and were getting to know each other we realized we had an incredible amount of things in common. We share a love for books, musicals, fashion, makeup, and pretty much everything else.

5. I can talk to her about anything.

We can literally stay up for hours at night just talking. Honestly I feel like I can talk to her about everything. I know she isn’t going to judge anything I tell her.

6. She talks me out of bad shopping choices.

One of our favorite pastimes is to go shopping. While it can be a bad idea to be two shopaholics going together, at least I know she will never let me look bad. Another plus is that we both look for the best deals.

7. She doesn’t judge my candy addiction too much.

It’s bad. I LOVE candy. Pretty much any kind you can think of I love. She understands I need to have some form of sugar in my system, and she can always count on me when she gets a sweet tooth.

8. It’s like a sleepover all the time.

This cannot be more accurate. I braid her hair. We sit and do makeup together. We binge watch netflix together, and cry together when our favorite character dies. We haven’t had a pillow fight yet, but I’m going to say that’s because we both love our beds too much.

9. We share a love for holidays and decorating.

One trip to Target at the end of September and we had our entire door decorated for Halloween. We have already decided on getting a small Christmas tree for our dorm room as well.

10. What's mine is hers.

She is welcome to my closet, my makeup, my straightener (we also share thick hair and shedding of said hair), and anything else she may need.

This is my best friend. Someone I can trust, and someone I can count on. Whatever she needs I will be there and I can’t think of anyone better to have this experience with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
