It's 5:30 AM, your alarm is going off.

You either get up and grind or you stay in "five more minutes."

Which one do you choose?

People always ask me how do I have so much energy to do everything I do, these are my secrets.

Here are five things you must do as soon as you wake up in order to have a positive and successful day, champ.

1. Don't think about it, just do it.

Nike was right all along, just do it. From the moment that alarm goes off, get up. Put your alarm across the room so you automatically have to get up in order to turn it off. Once you take that first step, your mind will react. It will know it is time to get going and your body will keep moving.

No more "five more minutes," because we all know those five minutes turn into thirty more minutes. The earlier the better. If you can’t do 5:30 AM yet, aim for 6:30 and start from there.

2. A one-hour workout is 4% of your day. What’s your excuse?

There shouldn’t be one. After your nice two glasses of water, start running. Literally. Don’t think about it too much, again, just do it. There is a large amount of research focusing on the benefits of working out from the moment you wake up. All of the successful CEO’s do this as part of their daily routine.

It takes 21 days to form a habit. Start with this healthy habit and your life will change. Your brain will get brainstorming right away, you will feel and look better, and your day ahead will be positive. Whether you go for a run, to your gym, or to a kickboxing class, it all makes a huge difference. Your positive energy will attract positive people and experiences, this is the law of the universe.

3. Detox.

It is so vital to detox from the moment you wake up. How? Drink two 8 oz. glasses of water at room temperature or if you prefer semi-cold, do that as well. The reason for this secret is because it will clean your entire system from the day and night before. Do this 15 minutes prior to breakfast. The water gets your organs moving and this is proven to help increase your metabolism.

Once you get used to two glasses of water, aim for four. I have been drinking two bottles of water every morning and I am ready to go. It is amazing how quickly it wakes up your brain, you will be ready to conquer the day ahead. You will not be complaining about being tired again. Remember to keep hydrated throughout the day!

4. The more colorful the plate, the better.

Now, I am not your doctor but I am a Certified Health and Wellness Consultant. I’ve done an extensive amount of research on all things health. So, when I tell you to start your breakfast with your fruits, please do so. Breakfast is the most vital meal of the day. Believe it or not, it should be the biggest as well, not dinner.

Start your plate with sliced bananas, strawberries, oranges, and apples. You may even add some Greek yogurt to this delicious plate. Why fruits? They will help increase your metabolism, take away your sugar cravings throughout the day, and fill you up for your long day ahead. They will keep you hydrated, help clear your skin, and lose weight too. Your fruits come right after your water, and after that is your nice, hot cup of coffee with your breakfast.

5. Hip-Hop, Rap, or Motivational Videos?

Jim Rohn once said, “You are an average of the five people you spend your most time with.” He was a phenomenal mentor, entrepreneur, and speaker. When reading his books, he explained that this also pertained to what you are listening to as well.

What are you allowing your brain to swallow up every day?

On the way to work or school, listen to those motivational videos or speakers. Your adrenaline will start to rush. You will have a clear mind and remain focused throughout the day on what your goals are. Your goals should be written down the day before. Don’t know which ones to listen to? Go to YouTube, type in Motivational Videos, and you will be able to pick from thousands of them.

Get cracking to these positive vibes, your life will start changing radically! People fail to understand how powerful the mind is, don’t be like some of these people. My personal favorites are Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Stephen Covey, Patrick Bet David, and Les Brown. Find your favorite one, listen to him or her for at least 15 minutes of your day and you will see the results from such having such a powerful morning. Life doesn’t get easier, it simply gets better as you become both mentally and physically strong.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
