I am a sophomore at Rider University, which means at this point, I am familiar with the university and what it's expectations are. So, this article is somewhat of a welcome and guide for new students and transfer students.
Based on my experience thus far, Rider is a place that encourages everyone to participate in the things that they love and are passionate about. You don't have to limit yourself to just participating in things specifically pertaining to your major. For example, I am majoring in psychology, but I still get the opportunity to write on this platform and meet people through the Odyssey team. Perhaps your passion is your major or minor, but that doesn't mean you can't expand your horizons by going to events and clubs on campus!
The one thing that I love so much about Rider is that although there is only a moderate amount of diversity, students and staff don't hesitate to educate themselves about other cultures, thoughts, beliefs, and so on. There are always events going on everywhere around campus. Events are an easy way to interact with people and know more about success. Bring a friend to events or clubs so it can help to facilitate any nervousness you may have. It will be fun, I promise. You won't regret it. (disclaimer: please don't think that I am promoting anything, I just want you to get the most out of your college experience.)
Rider truly helps you in every field that you want to be successful. There are resources on campus to help you take that extra step to boost your grades. Fine arts is also an integral part about Rider, you can express your creative side wherever you go, no matter what your major is.
It might even be the best four years of your life if you put yourself out there. You can meet a variety of diverse, new people. Although you will be busy, you will be having fun while doing so, that you may even forget that you're in college!
