You all know what I’m talking about and if you don’t you’re kidding yourself. Mondays suck. You may still be hungover or doing all of your work that you waited until Sunday to start. So Mondays inevitably suck. But what a lot of people don't realize is that Mondays set the tone for the rest of your week, so why wouldn't you want to start your week off right? Rather than waiting for Thursday to come around, make your week better by starting your Monday positively.
Here are some tips to make your Monday meaningful
1. Wake up early
Yeah… you set you're alarm for 8 a.m. but don't get out of bed until 10. I fall victim to this all the time but try a find the strength within and get yourself out of bed early. Waking up early causes you to be productive and if you get up early enough that afternoon siesta will be way more satisfying.
2. Work out
The last thing you probably want to do. Getting some form of exercise is good for your mental and physical health. When you work out you release endorphins which are your bodies natural happy drug. So drop the leftover cupcakes your Roomie made and get your booty to the gym. Grab some friends and try out a new class or catch up on the episode of your favorite show while working out.
3. Acknowledge your feelings
Sounds easy right? Well it is. The sooner you can acknowledge that you're feeling down the sooner you can move on from it. So figure out what is really bothering you, try and fix it, acknowledge that it’s okay to have those feelings and move forward from it. Even if you don't fix it right then and there, it is imperative that you realize what is upsetting you in order to get rid of those feelings.
4. Eat dinner with friends
Most of us in college already eat with our 40 other sorority sisters or a couple roommates, but try and ask about each others' days. Play that cheesy rose and thorn game where you go around the table saying one thing that was great about your day and one thing that was sh**ty about it. You will realize that other people are feeling the say way that you are and you'll probably get a good laugh, too.
5. Go to bed early
You deserve it. If you woke up early your body is going to be tired so listen to it. A lot of us fight the feeling of sleepiness but accept it on a Monday night and go with it. Try not to watch Netflix all night and put away your phone early. The lights from your laptop and phone will only keep you from getting the beauty sleep you need.
6. Know that there’s always a new day
That’s the great thing about life, everyday you get the opportunity to start fresh. Forget about the bad day before and move forward. Realize that today was bad but tomorrow doesn't have to be and hey there’s always tuesday booze day to look forward to.
