I'm pretty sure it's the same for everyone: the beginning of November (or September) hits and you're ready to go home. College can get really exhausting sometimes, especially with the lack of breaks we get all semester. Constant work really takes a toll on you.
I mean, it did at least for me. So when winter break comes around, you're all excited to go home and do pretty much nothing. The minute I got home, I was ready to go back. I'm literally so bored that I'm losing brain cells. It's like I can never win.
Now that the halfway point in the school year is here, I'm really excited to go back and do something. Sometimes being busy is a blessing. Here are some of the feels we all get when we step back onto campus for the spring semester a la "The Office."
5. The return to dining hall food.
I'm pretty sure eating dining hall food is the equivalent to when Michael Scott forced Kevin to eat the broccoli. Going from home cooked meal to school made wraps and chicken sandwiches is a dramatic change. If you're lucky enough to have an apartment, then the struggle is, even more, real. It's going to be ramen and eggs for the next three months.
4. The day before the first day of class.
We all get back and reunite with our friends. The weekend back is nice; you just relax and pretty much do nothing. But then it's Sunday, and tomorrow is Monday. Monday is the first day of class. Start crying now.
3. Getting seven syllabi at once.
You get all this work assigned to you in one day. It gets pretty overwhelming. Sometimes it gets to a point where you don't even know what to ask. Five papers due this day, seven tests all on the same day at some point in the semester. It's just ridiculous. Professors think we're just taking their one class. No honey, we're taking five.
2. Going to class the third week back.
I don't know about you, but I'm already sick of everybody face. Does it look like I care you got a PhD in fast food studies?
1. When you go to office hours for the first time for help.
OK, so I have a story. I was in this science class and I was really scared. Like really scared about my grades. The class was super hard, and no matter what I did, I did bad on the tests. I read the entire textbook back to back, went online for answers. Nada.
So I go to the professor for help. I say, "Professor I need help" and you know what he tells me to do? He genuinely thought his response was going to help me for class. He told me to make flash cards. OK. I'm a sophomore in college. I never knew I could do that!
Thanks for the help!
