Returning To College After Break As Told By Spongebob

You and I both know how this term is going to go...

Returning To College After Break As Told By Spongebob

Winter break has ended, and adjusting back to college can be kind of horrific. You'd think it wouldn't be that bad -- I mean, I'm a senior, I've done this quite a few times before -- but it just never gets any easier. Adjusting to new classes, diving back into homework... it's not an easy thing by any means. Sometimes returning to college, especially in the dead of winter, can really feel like a slap in the face. And although we always have high expectations for ourselves, we all know how this term is going to go. So I would like to show you college through "Spongebob" GIFs, explaining how we fall back into our typical cycle of procrastination.

1. You return to school Sunday night, thinking: this term, I'm going to be OK.

Sunday night is a night of possibilities, isn't it? Nothing horrible has happened yet. You're still OK. This is the good part.

2. You have fun that first night back, because what else are you going to do?

There's no homework, the wifi has crashed... so you chill with your friends and have a good time, because there's not an ounce of stress in your life!

3. Then it's syllabus day, and that's not so hard...

You go to class for a few minutes, get told to behave and show up to class every day, and then you get to leave! That's not so bad...

4. ... except you suddenly see all the homework you'll have this term.

You make the mistake of looking at your weekly schedule of homework. Ah, never should have done that. Rookie mistake.

5. So you start in on that mound of homework, thinking this term, you'll get ahead!

You have to start with those good intentions.

6. Midweek comes and you think you can really do it this time -- get ahead, stay ahead.

It's so cute how much faith you have in yourself. Thinking that this will be the term you change your entire perspective on homework and studying... it's just downright adorable.

7. But then you realize... do you really need to do this homework right now?

The answer is always no. No, you really don't have to do this homework right now.

8. So you do what you do best -- ignore your responsibilities to do fun things instead.

No one can blame you for wanting to have a good time, right?

9. Friday comes and the real party begins, because you have all weekend to do that stupid homework.

Weekends are for partying, right? Sleeping in, hanging out, watching movies... other things that aren't homework. It's just meant to be that way.

10. But suddenly it's Sunday... and you've done nothing.

Whoops. Who's surprised? (Probably not you at this point).

11. You stay up way too late trying to cram it all in.

For a moment you hate yourself for doing this all over again, just like every other term.

12. You wake up for class tired and angry.

Even though it's your fault, you hate every living being in this moment, because you want to go back to bed.

13. You go through your day a complete and total mess.

You really start to lose it at this point. A week in and you're already nearing your typical mental breakdown of the term.

14. And although you know you shouldn't, you're so tired from that homework that you procrastinate with your future homework... as always.

Because you need the time to relax... right?

15. And we know the rest, don't we? And endless cycle of procrastination, fun, exhaustion, and anger... that is the college life.

And we wouldn't want it any other way.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
