10 Thoughts College Students Have Throughout The Semester

Let's be real, starting a new semester is not what any college student wants to think about. Whether winter break ended or summer has slowly come to an end, no college student wants to face the new semester. Once syllabus week ends, all the silly fun is over. Long gone. It is no longer acceptable to waltz into class still a little buzzed. This is where things start to get serious. And the countdown to the next break begins.

1. How am I going to survive?

You walk into your class and think "I can do this." Then they put the syllabus up on the board and you already have four papers, two quizzes and an entire book to read by next week. All you can think is, "is this real life?"

2. Contemplating dropping out.

The feeling of defeat after the third week. You took the test you thought you were going to ace, but that did not really happen. And honestly dropping out seems like a better idea.

3. Seeing all your friends having fun.

Some of your friends get to leave and do whatever they want during the week. Wine Wednesday? Of course your roommates are going. And where are you? Trapped in a room with a 500+ page textbook.

4. Thinking you don't need to do any work.

"Do I really need to do this homework assignment?" What's the point, it's only 10 percent of my actual grade, I'll be fine.

5. Giving up on your appearance

For the first couple days, everyone's hair is done, outfits are super cute and time was clearly spent taking care of yourself. By week two, all the sweatpants, sweaters and the "I really could care less" looks come out. The only time to look cute is when you are going out.

6. Debating whether you are in the right major.

Your life seems to be in shambles. Nothing is going as planned. All of the sudden you get hit with tests and lessons that make you reconsider your major. That career you pictured yourself being apart of seems so unrealistic now.

7. You made it half way through the semester alive.

Mid-terms are finally over so you sigh a breath of relief. Finally. So close to being done and free. It is so close you can taste it.

8. The weather starts to change and so does your feelings.

Especially during spring semester, with the weather getting nice, there are finally so many fun activities you can do after being trapped in the house for so long. Obviously the four page paper can wait.

9. Only a couple days left and you finally check your awful grade...

Due to the constant fun throughout the semester, you may have forgotten to hand a few things in. Your professor pulls you aside to discuss the three homework assignments and papers that were never handed in. They are finally coming to haunt you again. "I do not give extra credit" is the scariest thing to hear. Now you are in the library 24/7 instead of the nearest frat house.

10. Finally, the year is over.

This semester has been rough and crazy, but now you can finally be free!

Semesters are tough and there is never not a day I say I am going to drop out. But, what I have learned to this day is it will help you in someway, shape, or form. Right now it may be hard, but it gets easier. Some how...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
