What a woman chooses to do with her body is completely up to her. What a man chooses to do with his body is completely up to him.

In today's world, women are often shamed and looked down upon if they do something improper but for men, it is a completely different attitude. Double standards are unacceptable. Men and women have the same expectations and what they choose to do with their lives. Their choice should not be influenced by what society believes it right or wrong.

For those who might not know what double standards are it is simple when two people are held to different standards based on appearance, status, gender, or a number of different factors. One example is a stay at home mom. Being a stay at home mom is acceptable but for some reason, a stay at home dad is not acceptable. There are stereotypes surrounding men and women that the man has to support the family and the women's role is to take care of the kids. But come on, it's 2018 aren't we past that?

Women's roles go on past cooking, cleaning, and children. Let's start respecting women and get rid of the double standards. Girls are taught from a young age to cover up and ignore inappropriate comments but boys are not. Boys are encouraged to explore there desires with lesser consequences. We even have a saying for when something bad happens, 'Boys will be boys'. You have probably heard it before. So why is it okay for 'boys to be boys' and whatever happens to the girl it's okay because "she was asking for it'.

I'm not going to blame the boys for the double standard. I'm going to blame the society and the way we are raising children to believe what is and isn't acceptable based on their gender. The playboy attitude, as I like to call it, calls for treating women as objects simply meant for them. Like a trophy. Wake up this isn't a game anymore. The whole "boys will be boys" BS isn't valid anymore.

Boys need to be put in their place and stop looking at women as just something to show off to their friends.

Don't get me wrong this is not all men. Just a select few that need reinforcement of how to treat women. Think about your sisters, cousins, close girl friends. Would you want her to be treated wrong and looked at like an object?

Maybe it's time for some self-reflection. Say you had a daughter. Would you be okay with her dating someone like yourself?

In today's world, a boy with a lot of girlfriends is a player. A girl with a lot of guy friends is a floozy (in nice terms).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
