"I'm with you"

Reminders We Need to Hear Everyday

Sometimes we can forget who we are or where we came from because our lives get so busy. Our schedules get full of tests, quizzes, plans with friends, meetings, work, practices, involvement and so much more. So, here are some reminders of who we are and what we are

1. You are loved

You are loved by your friends and family. No matter what you are going through, your friends and family love you. Even if your friends seem distant right now or your family is far away, they will always love you. But even more so, you are eternally loved by God. He loves you so much that He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross just so that He can know us personally. He is jealous for us and wants to spend time with us, He wants to hear about your problems, He wants to know you because He loves you so much. Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10; Romans 8:35-39

2. You are good enough

Yes, we all suck. We sleep through our alarms and are late to class or work, or miss class or work. We let people down, we lie, we make mistakes. But through it all we are enough. Some days we don't feel like we are good enough, we get assigned a task and don't know why because we don't think that we can do it. We feel like we only ever fail anyone, we can't trust people because they have let us down before. We aren't good enough, but Jesus makes us good enough. He died on the cross so that we could have a relationship with God. Because of that we are enough, we can accomplish anything through Jesus because He fills us and makes us whole. So stop comparing yourself to others, you are good enough

3. You have no right to be unhappy

If you just remind yourself that God eternally loves you, that He put His Son to die on the cross just to know you, and that you are enough, then you have no reason to be unhappy. Yes hard times are going to be thrown our way and life is going to be unfair but that is only so that we learn to lean on the Lord during those trying times and learn to rejoice during those times. They are hard for sure, but don't let the difficulty of them get in the way of you and your happiness. Remember who you belong to

4. God is with you

Wherever you are, or wherever you are going, the Lord is with you. He wants you to acknowledge Him and talk to Him. He wants to live life with you and walk side by side. He is there in the hard times, even when we don't see Him. And it's mostly because we aren't looking for Him. Find Him, He's there. Matthew 11:28-30

5. It's all going to work out

The Lord has a plan, and there is a reason for everything. Yes, that is one of the worst things to hear when you are going through a tough season in your life but if you really sit down and think about it then you realize that God's plan is so much greater than ours. The thing that you desire most in the world could end up being so detrimental to your life and that is why God is not giving it to you. He needs you to focus on Him and recognize that He has a plan and it will all work out. Just rest in the peace and comfort of knowing that He has a plan and He only wants the best for you. This does not guarantee that it is going to be only good things, this means that life will get hard but if you push through the hard times with your eyes on the Lord; the benefit you reap will be so much greater than anything you could ever desire. Psalm 46:10

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
