Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we can already smell the turkey from our dorm room windows. Students love the idea of going home and eating some of the best food this world has to offer. However, just like a butcher slaughtering an animal, he must fatten that animal up and make them think they are safe from the horrors that are about to come.
Thanksgiving is time to be with family and enjoy great food, but it doesn't take away the fact that time still moves. You will have to come back to school within the weekend and face the rest of the semester with, what should be full force. This is the "final stretch," the "concluding scene" for this semester.
We know that as soon as we get back, our professors will have a limited amount of time to cover their "last minute lessons." Which, personally, I think is pointless. I understand that we are in college and that the sole responsibility for us is to study and pass the class, but still.
Teaching us a "last minute lesson" will only add to what will be on the final exam and the stress that comes with studying for them. So, to my professors: if you truly want to see your students succeed in your class, review past lessons with them and make sure that they completely understand what you have taught them. You will be greatly revered for it.
This, in turn, will make the students less anxious about your test and make them more confident in the preparation for your test.
Although this is a time for you to relax and rejuvenate from this entire semester and everything that has transpired over these past few months, do not get too comfortable. Students, I know you already know this, but seriously study. This is not a time for procrastination, nor is it a time to complain about how many tests you have. Believe me, we all understand, because we all have tests coming up.
So find your peace and tranquillity in your family, food, and football. But remember that when we come back, you have work to do and that the two weeks we have left will fly by, just like this semester has. Study for the classes you are struggling in now and work towards a better grade. That is all this institution wants, for its students to succeed academically and professionally.
