Mom, throughout my nineteen years of life, you've been my best friend. We've laughed together, cried together, shared memes together. To honor our wonderful friendship, I've decided to make a list of just a few things that will always remind me of you.

1. Roses

Probably because your middle name is rose, and definitely because you insist that roses are the best flowers.

2. Cinderella

Cinderella always was your favorite, and she probably always will be. I can never look at her without thinking of you.

3. "Grease"

I think your love for "Grease" was one of the first things you ever passed on to me. Even still, "Grease" is often the source for our favorite road trip songs.

4. "The Karate Kid"

I feel like my lifelong love for Daniel LaRusso is something that defines a facet of my personality. And since you loved "The Karate Kid" before I ever even existed, you understand that part of me better than anyone. Thank you for introducing me to one of the great unattainable loves of my life.

5. Padmé Amidala

Maybe Padmé reminds me of you because for years your e-mail address was "mrsvader." But I think it's more likely that she reminds me of you because you are both kind, intelligent, and well-spoken.

6. Reylo

It's pretty safe to say that for better or for worse, we're both going down with this ship.

7. New Kids On The Block

New Kids On The Block, the boy band we've seen life together twice now. We have some wonderful memories surrounding these guys: me crying as Donnie approached us, you being shoved into Joey. Good times, good times.

8. "Gilmore Girls"

Our favorite show to binge, mostly because it is about a mother and daughter/ best friend duo.

9. Marie, from "When Harry Met Sally..."

Let it be known that we love Carrie Fisher even apart from her iconic role as Princess Leia. She gives us many laughs as Marie, who deserves a lot more recognition.

10. This moment from Carpool Karaoke

Harry and James' rendition of "Endless Love," is the duet that never fails to make us laugh out loud.

11. Superman/Henry Cavill

I think your genuine love for Henry Cavill seriously impacts my own perception of Superman, for the better.

12. Benedict Cumberbatch

Remember when I told you that you would love "Sherlock," but you refused to watch it for years? And then you binge-watched it? And now we both love Benedict Cumberbatch? Yeah, me too.

13. Ed Sheeran

I think if I asked for your favorite Ed Sheeran song, you would just list every song he's ever written.

14. This iconic "Lilo and Stitch" scene

Remember when we would watch this when I was little and laugh about it for ages?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
