As young, thriving adults, sometimes we need to be reminded of our worth. It is so easy to get caught up in the hype of perfection that we forget to come back down to reality. We deserve someone we don't have to try to be perfect for. We deserve someone who changes our outlook on life and love for the better, not someone who leaves us questioning their feelings and making us feel like we are hard to love. It's almost effortless to get wrapped up in our feelings and emotions for another person and it's effortless to lose our sense of worth in the process.
Trying to figure out life in your twenties is NOT easy. Trying to figure out life with your lover by your side- now that is a little easier. You and your significant other deserve to feel safe and at ease when you are tangled up in each other's arms. You deserve stoplight kisses, hand holding under the dinner table, and sweet surprises just because. You deserve someone to lean on when times get tough or just because your head on their shoulder makes you the happiest.
Remember, you are beautiful/handsome. You are kind, generous, and you have the whole world in your hands. You are smart and funny. What we as young adults want is someone we have a palpable connection with that goes far beyond physical attraction. What we want is something real, but what we need is for the other person to effortlessly feel the same way. If someone is not willing to fight for you, your relationship, and your *perfect charm and fabulous company* that is truly their loss. It is not fair to your significant other to make them stay if they do not want to. It is not fair to you to continue to give 110% to save something that has no interest in wanting to be saved.
Landing comfortably on cloud 9 with the one you don't ever want to let go of is the ultimate goal while you're in a relationship. Change is not easy. We fight to hold on and we fight to let go. Just remember, though, that your heart should always be at ease knowing that what is meant for you will never miss you and what misses you was never meant for you.
