He taught you how to be patient.
As a sister, you are probably all too familiar with the pranks and goofy games boys play. On a positive note, this taught you how to be patient. Having an elder brother has taught you to not get angry or be frustrated too easily.
He showed you how to be tough.
Whenever I find myself in sticky situations, I realize that I tend to be tough. I am used to being picked on, and as much as older brothers love to do it and how annoying it is, it as taught me how to brush the little things off and not have people walk all over me.
You will never need to hire a mover
Whether you're moving into college, or a new apartment your brother is always your go to person to move the heavy equipment.
You have like fourteen other older brothers to look out for you at all times because all his friends see you as a little sister as well.
They tease you about everything and flirt with you just to make their best friend feel uncomfortable. They can be your Saturday night entertainment and another role model to look up too.
He teaches you to laugh at yourself
I can't count how many times my older brother has reminded me that it is important to learn to laugh at your mistakes. Whether you tripped and fell on the stage at graduation or a sentence came out wrong. Instead of getting embarrassed, it's better to laugh at yourself then let it bring you down.
You have an honest opinion 24/7.
Sometimes, we love the honesty, and other times we wish they could lie like they did to get you in trouble when you younger, but either way whether we don't want to admit it it's always good to have someone to tell you truth.
You have someone to explain sports to you.
You never not wanted to be like your older brother. So when he loved Football, you loved football. Whether you turned to be a little tomboyish, at least you have something to talk about when you go on your first date, because who doesn't love football?
You aren’t afraid to tell him when you mess up because you know he won’t judge you.
Admitting you messed up is hard, but when you have such a great support system behind you, it makes it that much easier.
He will always put you on a pedestal and keep you at high standards.
He expects the best from you because he knows that you can achieve and deserve the best.
You hold yourself to high standards, too.
Becuase in the back of your mind you always want to make him feel proud to have a little sister.
He can always give you a pep talk before you’re about to get in trouble with your parents because he’s probably been in the same situation and knows what to expect.
Speaking of which...text me...I have a situation we need to discuss.
You always have a best friend
Whether you had a tight group of friends in high school, or you're like me and your tight group of friends fell apart, he never failed to be there and remind you that no matter what he will always be a text, phone call, or a drive away.
