Every Romance Has Its Expiration Date

Not every love is met to be "the one."

Every Romance Has Its Expiration Date

Growing up I was always told to be careful of the things that are beautiful. That, one something holds beauty, it is both good and evil at the same time. And that is how love is, it's a beautiful warmth wrapped in a sheet of darkness. Falling in love is just that beautiful scary thing. You find yourself letting go of everything as you fall from the sky into your lover's arms. All while you say to yourself, Go please don't drop me.

However, it is not a happily ever after for everyone. And then it is not a scary, terrifying ending for some people as well. For some, it's just the feel of a ticking expiration date that comes dooming near them. It comes a part in everyone's life where we must look at our relationship and ask ourselves, is this the next step we want to take in our lives. Not just as a couple, but each other.

Sometimes love is powerful, but its not always the love that is met to keep two people together. Sometimes it is quite the opposite. The old saying is true, if you love something, you need to be able to let it go freely. If it returns it was met to be.

Realizing that your relationship has run its course is scary and confusing.

You love this person dearly and want to do everything you can to hold onto them. But at times you need to let go and listen to the clock above you saying your time has ended. You can fight for someone. But sometimes no matter the love you both have for each other, it was never met to be. You need to understand that. It says nothing about who you or they are as a person. It only says that their chapter in your life has been done.

Yet, that is depressing all the same. Seeing the person who played such a vital role in your life walk out. It's hard to let go to the people who played such a remarkable and important role in our lives. However, that is the thing with dating. Not everyone who comes in your life was met to be the love of your life. Some were met to test you, teach you lessons as your grow.

Maybe the worst part of it all is that you see it coming. You can feel the distance growing between you two, even as you lay beside each other in bed. It's the phantom standing in the corner, holding your ticking time clock. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Knowing that your time together is over is heart breaking. But there comes a time that even love is not strong enough to hold you together. Not every love is met to be the one. Some loves are met to teach us, grow us and mold us. We will fall in love a lot of times in life, just not every love will be our last. Sometimes we have to let go, even if it's the hardest thing we have ever done.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
