Ref Watch: Should Arsenal Have Been Given Scandalous Penalties?

A recent stalemate in the league was highlighted by the fact that both sides failed to score from the penalty spot. However, the referee decided to go the other way and awarded the game a goalless draw.

Arsenal were denied two'scandalous' penalties in a goalless draw with Newcastle United

The draw with Newcastle United ended Arsenal's 11-game winning streak at the Emirates Stadium. It also denied the Gunners a chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. But despite the draw, Arsenal still hold a eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.

The game was a cagey affair that saw both sides have nine yellow cards. Both teams had chances to score, with Arsenal failing to make a breakthrough. They also failed to break down a stubborn defence from Eddie Howe's side.

The referee, Andy Madley, was under fire. He refused to award the Gunners two penalties in stoppage time. In the first incident, a cross from Granit Xhaka hit Jacob Murphy's arm in the penalty area. And in the second, Dan Burn looked to pull Gabriel back.

Both incidents would have been harsh on Newcastle had a penalty been awarded. But Madley waved away the protests from the players.

After the draw, Mikel Arteta was furious with the officials. He alleged that it was scandalous that his side didn't receive two penalties.

Mikel Arteta criticizes Newcastle's set-up

Mikel Arteta has been in the headlines again. This time for his heated exchanges with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.

Arteta was angered after two controversial penalty calls against Newcastle. He was particularly upset that his team failed to score in a league game for the first time this season. Despite this, Arteta says his side should have been awarded two penalties. The manager claimed that a cross from Granit Xhaka was not given a penalty when it appeared to hit Jacob Murphy on the arm.

Arteta was also scathing of how the match officials handled the appeals. During the game, he was visibly angry at the fourth official Stuart Atwell. During his rant, he waved his arms in the air to show his displeasure.

The incident was highlighted in a documentary about the match called All or Nothing: Arsenal. It shows the X-rated tirade of Arteta.

Arteta and other managers in the Premier League have been criticised for their touchline antics. But, it seems that the Arsenal manager's temper is getting too out of control.

Referee's hesitancy to consistently book for professional fouls

If you have watched a Premier League game this season, chances are you will have seen one or more red cards. Whether it was a good or a bad decision, it's not impossible to find a game that saw a player get sent off for something other than a yellow card. In fact, the EPL has the highest number of red cards per match of any top division in the world.

The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Ltd) makes these decisions in private, and it's often in the form of an apology. It's been a thorn in the sides of many managers when players get punished for dangerous challenges.

Mike Dean's record in the Premier League is pretty impressive. He has dealt out 50 red cards in his career. Of course, he's also had to deal with the odd yellow card too.

For instance, there have been a few red cards that have been attributed to the same referee, but only one in the actual game. That's right, the most expensive in the league isn't always the one that is shown on television.

Chris Sutton's frustrations with Mikel Arteta

A former Chelsea striker and BBC pundit has attacked Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's behaviour. Sutton claims Arteta was acting like a clown at the Emirates on Tuesday.

The draw against Newcastle United was a stalemate, but the clash was far from a clean one. Mikel Arteta was animated throughout, protesting every decision and displaying his unmistakable passion. His actions are often entertaining, but sometimes embarrassing.

Mikel Arteta's actions against Newcastle United were a major concern for the Arsenal boss. The former Ibrox favourite stormed down the touchline with his arms flailing and got into trouble with the fourth official. He was also accused of denying Arsenal a second-half penalty for Jacob Murphy's handball in the last minute of play.

While Arteta has enjoyed a decent amount of success at the Emirates, he has also been subject to some harsh criticism in recent months. During his time at Celtic, Arteta was criticised by Alan Shearer, but he went on to win the Scottish Premier League and the SPL title.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
