Here are 20 books I loved and seriously recommend, in no particular order!
1. The Fault in Our Stars - John Green

If you're a fan of (kinda cheesy) love stories then this is the right book for you! This would definitely be classified as a young adult / teen read, but I still love it.
I absolutely loved every word and might even read it again soon!
2. The Beginning of Everything - Schneider
The Beginning of Everything - by Robyn Schneider (Paperback)The Beginning of Everything is another teen level kind of read. It is way more heart wrenching, if that's even possible, and kept me on my toes until the very end!
3. Forever Outnumbered - Simon Hooper

Forever Outnumbered is a book about a man named Simon Hooper and his life raising four beautiful little girls. I discovered Simon and his family on Instagram years ago and absolutely love them and this book!
The book tells all the highs and lows of being an adult, a parent (specifically a father) and I found it very interesting to read that tale from a man's perspective.
Obviously I am not a parent, so I recommend this book to anyone as a lifestyle read!
4. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist, as it turns out, was a reading requirement for many high schools. Mine, however, did not require me to read it so I only just discovered it recently.
I thought this book was enchanting and reminded me of the mystery and adventure I'd feel reading a book as a kid.
5. A Long Way Gone - Ishmael Beah

A Long Way Gone is a book I was assigned to read in college. I recommend it if you are looking to read on different perspectives and different cultures. This book is definitely a heart wrenching read and will open your eyes up.
6. The Color Purple -Alice Walker

The Color Purple was another book I was assigned to read in college and I am so incredibly grateful that I did. I definitely recommend this book if you are also looking to educate yourself better on social injustice and the history of such in America.
7. Settle for More - Megyn Kelly
Megyn Kelly's book was inspiring to me because of her powerful female role in an industry I am working to enter - communications. I think that the book is a great read, regardless of the politics because she is an incredibly inspirational woman. Another incredible aspect to her book, and her as a person, is the fact that she changed careers after YEARS of studying to go into law and YEARS of practicing law. That is a decision that some people might never make and forever regret, so I think reading her story could be very beneficial for many.
8.Meeting Faith - Faith Adiele

Meeting Faith is yet another book I was assigned to read in college and I feel that I am so much more aware because of it. Meeting Faith is a story about an unconventional Black Buddhist Nun and her story of becoming and transitioning into being a nun. Again, another great read if you are looking to expand your world view and knowledge.
9. The Help - Kathryn Stockett

The Help is another great read if you are looking to read about social injustice and educate yourself on the different perspectives specifically black people in America have faced.
10. The Rent Collector - Wright

This is another great read for expanding your world view and knowledge. This book is definitely heart wrenching and tells the story of Sang Ly struggling to make a living both living off of and working in a literal dump in Cambodia.
This book will really make you count your blessings.
11. Hidden Figures - Margot Lee Shetterly

Hidden Figures is an absolute favorite (possibly top 5) book of mine. Anything involving girl power is a win for me and the story of these women working on one of the biggest operations at that time and demanding respect in their roles at NASA is truly astronomical.
12. The Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling (Of course)

Harry Potter is the first chapter book series that I started to read (with my dad) in around the 4th grade. Harry Potter will forever hold a special place in my heart and I think that anyone that hasn't read the series is truly missing out.
13. The Hunger Games Trilogy - Collins

The Hunger Games is another childhood favorite of mine. I am definitely a fan of thrilling books and this series certainly keeps you on your toes.
14. The Power - Naomi Alderman

The Power is a book that I picked up recently in the Barnes and Noble in NYC on 5th Ave which might have added to the magic for me. This book is magical (because it entails literal magical powers) and also consists of girl power which I absolutely loved. I did find the concept of the world in this book a bit difficult to grasp in the beginning, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down.
15. This is where it ends - Marieke Nijkamp

This book is about the perspective of a school shooting from the students inside the school. I think that as a student in America or person in America this read is an absolute must. It is definitely hard to get through, but it is important to understand how terrifying this concept is and hopefully this book inspires change and improvement because clearly something is wrong.
16. The Journey of One Buddhist Nun - Brown
The Journey of One Buddhist Nun was another book I was assigned in college. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book to better expand my horizons and knowledge on people and cultures different to my own.
If this is something that interests you, I definitely recommend it!
17. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - Mark Manson

I don't know about you, but I definitely tend to give way too much of a f*ck, especially with people that don't deserve it.
This book really helped give me perspective on how to treat myself better and with more respect as well as how to take things one step at a time, which is something I definitely needed help with.
I really recommend this read as it opened my eyes to many healthier habits.
18. A Wrinkle in Time - L'engle
A Wrinkle in Time is, to me, a children's / young adult classic that everyone should read. It gives something similar to the nostalgia and magic of books and movies like Harry Potter and Narnia.
If you haven't already read this, I definitely think you should!
19. The Giver - Lois Lowry
The Giver is something I decided to read very recently and I am very glad that I did.
This book does not have many dramatic twists and turns, at least to me but it gave me a different perspective of life and the true value of love and wealth.
20. New York 2140 - Kim Stanley Robinson
Being a NY resident, this book's description very much fascinated me. If you are from NY, or just appreciate NY, I would definitely give this a read! Especially with the times we are in now, it is a very interesting perspective!
