Coming from someone who has lived in Philly for the past four years in three very different areas, I can wholeheartedly say you should move to this beautiful city after you graduate.
1. The Opportunities are Endless
Internships and jobs here rank among the most prestigious of our generation. The city is filled with high-end companies hungry for new competitive workers.
2. The Food is Unreal
Chances are you already know what I’m talking about. The Steven Starr restaurants, you know, like Continental, Buddhakan, El Vez, Pod, The Prime Rib, Jones, Parc, Morimoto, Sampan, Talula’s Garden… etc. They’re all so unique and serve foods that come from various cultures. Now, I’ll make it a little cheaper for you. The famous Philadelphia Cheesesteak (Geno’s or Pat’s?). Shake Shack, home of the world’s most delicious burgers, hotdogs, and milkshakes. Some other incredible restaurants include Pietro’s, Fat Salmon, Barbuzzo, Pho, Estia, R2L, and Del Frisco’s. Yes, we also have Cheesecake. That only covers dinner, though. For brunch, I highly recommend Honey’s Sit and Eat, Blue Stone Lane, or my personal favorite, Reading Terminal Market.
3. The Ice Cream Places
Two Words: Sweet Charlie’s. I lived a block away from this place, and it was dangerous. Here, you will receive something that looks like this:
Not to mention, Scoop Deville, The Franklin Fountain, and Capogiro Gelato.
4. The Night Life
Philadelphia has an array of nightlife to choose from. From clubs like Rumor, Coda, Down, and Trilogy to sports bars like Fox & Hound, Tavern on Broad, X-Finity, Cavanaugh’s, McGillan’s, and Fado. Or you could you have a happy medium at places like Howl at the Moon or Frankford Hall. The best outdoor bar is by far Morgan’s Pier. And if you want to be high up with breathtaking views, I suggest Assembly Rooftop or R2L.
5. Sips
Happy hour, or happy 4 hours? Every working person looks forward to Wednesday’s in the summertime. Places like Pagano’s, Marathon, Comcast Center, Various Beer Garden’s, Top of the Tower and many more venues hold this event after a long day at work.
9. The Sports
Never miss a tailgate, game, or concert at Wells Fargo Center within miles from your home.
6. The Attractions
Magic Gardens, Spruce Street Harbor Park, LOVE Park, Rittenhouse Square, City Hall, Various Theatre's, Xfinity, The Museum of Art, etc. The history behind this city is infinite, as each attraction holds meaning.
7. The Shopping
You will find hundreds of outlets on Walnut and Chestnut Street.
8. You barely have to drive anywhere
(I mean who wants to drive in center city anyway?)
9. The Festivals!!!!
These are just SOME of the reasons to consider Center City your new home after graduating. This city has so much to offer. I’ve lived in two of the most beautiful, fun-filled areas of Philly. First, I lived right off of Rittenhouse Square, which is always filled with people, beautiful restaurants, bars, and apartment buildings. The second and a favorite part of mine I lived in was Old City. The cover photo of this article is the breathtaking view I woke up to every day, 41 floors up off the ground. However, now I will be living in a townhouse on South Street, another beautiful area I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity to explore. So, you could probably say I’ve had my fair share of experience in this magnificent city, which is also enough to say anyone would fall in love with it, just like I did.
