16 Reasons Why I Love My Big
Jessica Greene

There is nothing more special than the bond that a little shares with her big. The love and joy that is felt on the day that you first receive your big is something you can never forget. The emotions towards each other become strengthen as you start to learn more about each other. Then suddenly you realize that there isn't anyone else in the world that would be a more perfect big than her. Here are 16 reasons why I love my big.

1. From the first time I met her I felt a special connection.

Whether it was during rounds or just a random lunch date, I immediately felt like I could tell her anything. I started to hope that she would one day become my big. The laughter that we shared during each encounter with each other made every experience seem unforgettable.

2. She spent hours crafting and loving on me before I knew she was my big.

The crafts and treats that arrived at my door during big little week were spectacular. Every time something new arrived I spent hours trying to figure out the clues you had left behind. Every clue led me one step closer to my big, but sometimes they even lead me two steps back. But I knew that without a doubt, you already loved me.

3. She always has good advice.

Obviously, after you became my big you also became my personal therapist. Every decision I made or issue I had, I turned to you. You always know what to say and how to say it. You can be brutally honest sometimes, but that is what a girl needs when she asks "does this outfit look good on me?"

4. She makes me laugh hard enough that we both start to cry.

Happy tears are the best tears and what better way to get them, than laughing with your big. She knows exactly how to make me laugh when I am sad or when I am happy. And I know exactly how to make her laugh too. Causing for some very interesting laughing sessions, where I swear I gained abs from laughing too much.

5. She's always up for a movie night, spa night, junk food night, or even craft night. (I recommend combining them all into one night. It is way more fun.)

After a rough day of class there is nothing more perfect than sitting down and hanging with my two favorite men Ben & Jerry's. And there is no one I would rather have join me, than my big. She knows just what type of movie to play and exactly how many minutes it takes to pop the perfect bag of popcorn. And let's be real who doesn't want to wear a facial, while hanging out with their big.

6. She makes me leave my dorm and meet new friends.

Socializing can be hard sometimes. After having classes all day and then doing homework for hours, all I want to do is sleep. But my big makes me get out of my dorm and experience the world. She wants me to do all the things she did as a freshman and experience it all. She wants me to meet the other sisters and her friends too, because she knows that I will be hanging out with her a lot.

7. She sets me up with formal dates.

Finding a formal date may seem like the end of the world, but no fear because you have your big here. She has a list of contacts on speed dial ready to take ,e to formal. And don't worry they aren't the creepy kind, they are the sweet adorable date kind. She wouldn't dare give me a bad date.

8. She is immediately there for me when I have an emergency.

She is always a call or text away. The moment something traumatic happens she is by my side. She is a steady rock when I am shaking.

9. She is a weirdo but let's be real -- I am too.

Everyone is a little bit weird, but my big is the definition of weird. That is why I love her because I am the definition of weird too.

10. She accepts me for who I am.

She knows my flaws and my insecurities. She knows when I get down on myself and she can tell when something is wrong. She is able to see me for who I am.

11. She takes super cute pictures with me.

Let's face it, a cute Instagram picture is a priority. And when we take pictures together we are straight fire. We are as fierce as you can get. #instacuties

12. She also has a pretty cool family.

I didn't realize that the rest of her family would be as cool. They all are as accepting and loving as my big and they never fail to show up for me.

13. She makes me food.

Food is important. Nothing is complete without food. She can make some mean microwaveable food and anything that is store bought, because you know dorm life.

14. She forces me to study.

On nights that I feel like I cannot study a single second longer, she forces me to do it. She knows that is what I need and she wants to see me succeed. And she is always prepared to order a pizza and drink Red Bull with me until my studying is done.

15. She loves on me constantly.

No matter what I do, she will always love me. She has loved me from day one and she has continued to show it. Everything she does is because she loves me. And without a doubt she knows I love her too.

16. She shares some pretty cool letters with me and taught me all I know about sisterhood.

I came into this sisterhood with little knowledge to what it would mean to me. She has been my teacher and guide throughout it all. She has introduced me to sisters and she has answered my questions about the sisterhood. But all in all, we share the same letters and we both know that without these letters, I wouldn't be her little. This bond that these letter create is one of the most unique bonds within the sisterhood.

So thank you big. Thank you for always being there for me and supporting me. Thank you for always being my shoulder to cry on. Thank you for always making my days weird and my nights interesting. And thank you for being my big.

Forever,

Your little

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
