As soon as Thanksgiving dinner ends and the Black Friday deals begin, coupled with the Christmas music playing on the radio, we know the holiday season has arrived: snow, gifts, family time, and best of all, no more school work. December truly is the most wonderful time of the year, and these are just a few of the reasons why:
1. The Snow
Playing in it, eating it, watching it fall, you're never too old for snow.
2. Getting To See Your Home Friends
You have more time to catch up than just the one day you had over Thanksgiving.
3. No Work
The semester is over and so are finals, so unless you're taking a winter class, you can spend your break relaxing.
4. Sleep
No class for six weeks means time to catch up on your sleep for the past three months.
5. The Gym
Odds are you started off the semester in September saying you would work out all the time and then you didn't follow through. It may be hard, but now that you're home you can work out everyday and eat healthier than you would be at school, especially since there's no late night pizza.
6. Holidays
The pretty winter decorations bring spirit and cheer, putting everyone in a great mood.
7. Spending Time With Your Family
They really do miss you when you're away at school, so save some time to hang out all together.
8. Traveling
If you're fortunate enough to be going on vacation, soak up the sun while you can. If not, you could always take a trip to see your college friends during the long winter break!
9. Ugly Sweater/Holiday Themed Parties
Get creative!
10. Christmas Movies
"Elf," "The Grinch," "The Polar Express," "Home Alone," and so many more. The perfect kinds of movies to cuddle up with a blanket and hot chocolate.
11. Holiday Cards
Or awkward family photos...
12. Shopping
Now that you're home, there's no need for the hassle of online shopping, shipping costs and struggling to return everything that you don't like.
13. Holiday Themed Foods/Drinks
Peppermint everything.
14. It's almost the new year
Time to start thinking of a resolution you may actually keep. Try to be more creative than, "I will work out."
December will be over faster than you think, so enjoy the time you have after finals are over with your family and friends.
