It is indeed that time again when the world is brightened by Christmas lights, shopping malls are filled with stressed out shoppers, the kitchen smells like cookies, and your car is always blasting Christmas carols. I wish I could tell people that Christmas brings my heart some kind of joy, but I am literally the breathing version of the Grinch. Which I used to think was stupid, but it is honestly okay. I really like to tally up the reasons why Christmas sucks because it kinda warms my soul to tell everyone why Christmas is not fun.

1. Christmas music is not fun.

I do love Christmas music on Christmas Eve and Christmas. It does not need to be blaring for seven weeks prior to the holiday then the music just gets old and it isn't as exciting. It almost ruins the magic of the music if you listen to it too much.

2. I give horrible presents.

I don't know why or how I became so terrible at gift giving. I always open my gifts and my heart is always full, because someone thought so deep about what to get me. I try so hard to be thoughtful. and I really am terrible at it. I just don't know how to get good gifts. It is like it is a hidden talent that I just do not have. I really am a poor college student who it not able to get all the expensive gifts I want to give, which is really hard on me. I have great people in my life who deserve the best and I never can give them the best.

3. It stresses me out!

The whole holiday stresses me out. I spend my time stressing out about having the perfect plans and it never works out. I hate stressing out about gifts, who to get gifts for, and what houses I need to be at. You feel like you have to get everyone the best presents, have the best tree, have the ugliest Christmas sweater, make the best Christmas cookies, and have the best Christmas. I just have feel too pressured.

4. Eggnog is gross.

People get all loco for some Eggnog while I vomit in my mouth at the thought. WHO EVEN DRINKS THAT? Oh, Everyone? Cool you all can drink your nasty drink while singing Christmas.

5. It is cold out.

Here in Indiana it gets pretty cold and I personally hate the cold. It makes me cranky.

6. Christmas trees are hard.

I literally didn't realize how much strategy went into a tree. You have to decide fake tree or real tree. You have to rearrange your furniture to fit the huge thing then you have to figure out how to arrange Christmas ornaments.. Like it is a process. You have to make sure it all goes together. Some people even go crazy and make sure the ornaments all match.

7. Shopping malls are busy.

I go into the mall to get some shoes and you can not move. It is really crazy. You almost think you shouldn't get the shoes because you do not want to get in the way of people who are trying to get Christmas for their families... then I obviously laugh at that thought and push to get my shoes.

I understand that Christmas is a very big holiday for people, which is cool. I am more of a New Years person. I love the idea of new beginnings. So if you like Christmas... Go enjoy Christmas. If you don't, you're not the only one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
