There are few things more despicable in this day and age than leaving a friend hanging on a Snapchat. You do know I worked really hard on that last one, right? I was really bored today and exchanging these fleeting digital messages is the most excitement I can give myself. I would imagine that you’d understand just how much my emotions are invested in these snaps by the level of detail contained in each one.
When my hard work and sincere thoughtfulness (in the form of colorful, tastefully emoji-ed snapchat) goes unreciprocated, you can only imagine how that would make someone feel. Personally, it casts a deep emptiness on my very being. The least you could do is snap me back. It’s not that difficult. I need this small affirmation of my own humanity. There must be some decent reasons for your un-immediate response to my snapchats.
1. You’re busy whipping up a sweet snap for someone else.
I know, I know, I’m being a bit selfish. I’ve forgotten that our world is made up of a whole web of people who take part in this instant connectedness. And I should know, sometimes the process can take a few moments. I’ll give you some time to take care of business.
2. Your phone is dead.
3. You are dead.
I’ve heard this is often an obstacle that can prevent some people from getting back to their electronic communications in a punctual manner. If this is the case for you, then I totally understand. But it would be really sweet if, next time, you let me know or sent me a snap in advance letting me know that you won’t be snapping anyone for a while—just so you know.
