The past few days have been a devastating time for my community as well as the surrounding community. Two young lives in my area have been taken by suicide, and one of those victims had been my classmate all throughout elementary, middle and high school.
I didn't know him very well, and the last memory I have of him is the picture saved on my phone from graduation day last May. He was standing with his friends, and I was standing with mine right before we were all about to line up to take our seats. I told him and his friends to come closer so we could all take a selfie, and that was that. I found out just the other night that he had ended his life. He always seemed so happy, and no one expected this to happen. As I think about it more, I feel bad for him.
I feel so bad that he felt sad enough to end his own life. There are so many amazing things about life that he won't get to experience now and knowing that makes me completely devastated, and it's something I've thought about a lot since this happened a few days ago. I wanted to write this article to remind everyone of the amazing little things about life, and to remind everyone that even though times might be bad it's going to get better. There are so many wonderful things about living, I promise.
