When you get to college, all you can think about is the cool parties you'll attend and the freedom you'll have. It's the first time you're away from home, and all you want to do is go out and make memories.
Sophomore year is the same. You've finally gotten the hang of college, you're thriving, and you just want to party all year.
Junior year is when you turn 21, so obviously, the partying continues. You switch from the frat scene to the bar scene and embrace your new surroundings, as well as your legal age.
And then senior year rolls around.
See, as a senior, you are constantly stuck between feeling like a grandma and wanting to make memories because "You'll never be this young again," so which one do you choose?
Personally, I have chosen my grandmother status, for the most part. While my friends don't always approve of my choices, I have given up on going out. I can no longer rally, I now cringe when taking shots, and I'm sleepy by 1 a.m. I hate myself for being this way, but hey, I lived it up the first three years so that's enough, right? I do go out sometimes (it's like a rare unicorn sighting) just to remind myself that I've still got it. It's always fun, it's just getting there that's the hard part.
When deciding whether I should go out or not on a given night, I wrack my brain for the pros and cons, and here are some of the reasons not to go out I come up with on a daily basis:
1. It isn't socially acceptable to bring food to the bars.
2. Heels hurt.
3. There's probably an SVU marathon on.
4. I don't have an outfit planned.
5. I have homework.
6. I haven't had time to take a nap yet today.
7. I'm too lazy to curl my hair.
8. I can't Facebook stalk people from the bar.
9. Taking shots sounds repulsive.
10. I can't video chat with my dogs from the bar.
11. I don't want to be hungover tomorrow.
12. There's always next week for going out.
13. Maybe I'll go to the gym if I stay home.
14. Maybe I'll go to bed earlier if I stay home.
15. Going out involves putting on pants.
16. I'm too poor to afford drinks at the bars.
17. I don't have to shower if I don't go out.
18. Going out involves putting on a bra.
19. Now that I'm 21, drinking just isn't as exciting.
20. I'm way too lazy.
I swear I will go out eventually, and I know it'll be a great time! But until then, I will continue to be lazy and think up these excuses on a weekly basis.
