Some people aren’t meant to be in Greek life, while others are perfect for it. A lot of people have this stereotypical image of what Greek life is, and in some cases, it’s just like that. In others, it’s not. At my college, I absolutely fell in love with my sorority. I was drawn in by how genuine the girls were and their philanthropy. I never saw myself as a “sorority girl,” but now I am so proud to say that I’m a sorority girl. I have so much pride in Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi), and I couldn’t imagine being in any other sorority.
1. Love for ADPi sisters
When I first met women in ADPi, I could see how much they truly loved their sisters. It made me feel like they were actually sisters, which was something I was interested in gaining more of. I wanted to make deep connections with my sisters in whatever sorority I chose, and there was something special I saw in my future ADPi sisters. They radiated kindness and it kept drawing me in further.
2. Love for Ronald McDonald House Charities
One thing I really wanted to do once I got to college was volunteer to help people who couldn’t help themselves. ADPi has given me the most amazing opportunity to do just that. I knew choosing ADPi was going to be the best choice for me when simply hearing about RMHC and everything they do tugged at my heart strings. ADPi supports RMHC all over the country, and it’s truly astounding how much support and prayer those families have behind them. Every chapter has given so much to help any way they can, and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing cause.
3. Support for one another
Our open motto (“We live for each other”) encompasses the foundation on which ADPi was founded: our sisterhood. The friendships we make don’t just last four years in college; they last a lifetime, just like I’ll always be an ADPi girl. Nothing ever ends in ADPi. We’re here until the end. Each woman in ADPi is unique, and we all bring something different to the group. A different way to support, a different way to love, a different way to help.
4. Opportunity for branching out
I was on the quieter side in high school, and I was hoping college in general would bring out the social butterfly in me. Instead, it was the girls in ADPi that did that. There’s always a chance to be social with each other, other sororities, and non-Greeks on campus, and I love that I’m more outgoing because of ADPi. It’s helped me enjoy my freshman year of college a lot more than I thought I would. Instead of having my head stuck in books 24/7, I actually make the time to enjoy spending time with my sisters and anyone else who wants to join, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Joining Alpha Delta Pi was one of the best choices I've made in my life, and I’ll never take for granted the true sisters I've gained from it! Would you consider joining such an amazing organization?
