10 Reasons I'm So Grateful For My Best Friends
Anna Powers

Best friends are an important part of life. It is time they get some recognition.

1. Thank you for making me so happy

This one is really simple, I am so grateful for my best friends because they always make me so happy. They mean everything to me.

2. Thank you for teaching me how to talk to boys

Like many other girls my age, I have absolutely NO IDEA how to talk to boys. I thank my best friends for being there to tell me exactly word for word how to reply in moments of crisis, giving me there opinions on what to wear when I go on a date, and especially giving their input on whether a guy is really worth my time. You guys have always made sure I am treated the way I deserve to be treated and if I'm not I know you all will be ready to kick his butt.

3. Thank you for comforting me, I cry a lot

As we were all growing up we have all been through so much together. Whether that was loss of a relationship or loss of a family member. I can always rely on my best friends to be there for me. Thank you guys for comforting when I have been hurt, and picking me up in the darkest of times. You guys keep me going, and I love you all for that.

4. Thank you for always keeping me busy

Growing up right outside of Boston we always had so much to do, and we are infamous for never really having a plan when we go out. But we always manage to have the time of our lives doing whatever. I live for our long drives and jam out sessions, our shopping trips, and deep talks on my kitchen floor. Life is never boring with you guys.

5. Thank you for teaching me so much

I always tell everyone that you guys know me better than I know myself, but I am seriously not joking. Everything I am is because of you guys. We have learned so many things about life through each other from everything that we have been through. You have taught me that I am a lot stronger than I think, I'm so grateful for that.

6. Thank you for helping me through high school

High School can be a hard time for anyone, but add in drama with evil girls, guys that play with your emotions, and perfectionist tendencies when it comes to academics and it soon becomes a recipe for disaster. I am so grateful that through that disaster my best friends were always by my side. They made my high school experience one that I look back on and love.

7. Thank you for hyping me up

I love you guys because you all always make me feel like I am the best version of myself. You encourage me to do great things, and give me the confidence to take on anything. You guys make me feel like I'm on top of the world especially when you are all by my side.

8. Thank you for lecturing me when I need it

Though you guys know how to hype me up you also know how to lecture me when I need it. When I am about to make a questionable decision when it comes to clothes or even guys. You guys are there to sit me down and let me know where I am going wrong. I am so grateful for that because it keeps me out of trouble and a lot less embarrassed.

9. Thank you for being my family

I know it's cliché to say that your best friends are also your family, but it is so true. I consider myself so close to all of you guys and I see you guys more than some of my other family members. But beyond being always physically there like family, to me, you guys represent the aspect of family which means that you guys never give up on me no matter what it going on. Family sticks together.

10. Thank you for sticking up for me no matter what

I can always count on my best friends to stick up for me whenever I need them. Even sometimes when I'm in the wrong, their loyalty to me never waivers and that means everything to me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
