No matter what you do in life, there will always be someone who will not want to do any work. The area that has always annoyed me the most was sports; there is always a kid on the team who does no work and wants to do no work. They just want to say that they are on a team. Everyone gets sick of their attitude and wants them to just quit, but they won’t. This is only because they are a "varsity athlete" now, so all their dreams are fulfilled. This is not really true, but they stick with it year after year.

The reason people get sick of this is because these kind of athletes are the reason why we have to work even harder than we already do. Think about it for a second. These “athletes” are the ones who couldn’t care less about practice since they know they'll be riding the bench, which makes them not try. The conditioning then increases because of their lack of effort and caring. To them, they’ll either get away with not trying and it won’t matter, or they will not try and Coach will add a couple sprints and since they weren't really trying before, it won't be hard. Meanwhile, everyone else is ready to die since they’ve been actually conditioning for about half an hour. There is nothing worse as an athlete than your coach putting time on a clock, telling you that you're going to run for a set amount of time and then you’re done. Then with about two minutes left, one of these "athletes" drops back or takes it easy. Coach gives you a warning, but they don’t care, so more time gets added to the clock because not everyone was going 100 percent.

The next reason is that they will do anything to get out of work. Track is especially known for this. My high school team had more sprinters than the rest of the team combined. The reason being this: sprinters do the least amount of running. There are the throwers, but typically if you’re not big and try to throw, they’ll kick you out and send you with the sprinters. Anyways, the sprinters do the least running of the running events and when you race, it’s maybe 400 meters and you’re done. That is not enough, though; then come the injuries. The percentage of sprinters who are terrible that end up with injuries from lifting or running too much is amazing. I get it, it sucks and things hurt, but every little pain is a major injury to them. I know it sounds harsh, but when your guy’s track team is 110 people in high school, that's just too many. When over half of them don’t care and just screw around taking up time for those who are there to work hard, they take away from productive training.

The third reason is that they cause more trouble than anyone else. This goes back to not caring. They try to cause fights in the locker room by complaining about people saying that they deserve a spot over them, when they don’t do any work. They complain about how Coach hates them and is always calling them out on things they do, and it is not fair. They sit around playing the victim, offended that they aren’t where they feel they deserve to be. But, telling them to work harder to get there would be "too hard," so they pick fights and pout about everything.

It’s easy to understand why people get sick of people like this because after all, they kill the team. Athletes like this are toxic and try to take out as many as they can with them. So, if you’re one of these people, quit being selfish. Being on a team doesn’t make you cool, and it doesn’t solve all your problems. It just makes people sick of you. So, if you’re one of these "athletes" just there for the title, please just stop. Leave some room for those who really care.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
