Recently, my roommate and I have been discussing old television shows, movies and music quite frequently. It started with watching the Sound of Music and Mary Poppins and now we are somehow 20 episodes deep into the "Dick van Dyke" show on Netflix.
As we have watched this, we have found the humor to be timeless and found ourselves laughing out loud at every episode. Here are some of the things that make this show great:
1. Dick van Dyke’s facial expressions.
His expressive face makes for great humor and perfectly captures whatever emotion he is feeling.
2.The main couple’s relationship.
Their love for one another is clear and their chemistry is prominent, but the way that their marriage was portrayed on screen was much more progressive than other shows of the time.
3.The physical comedy.
Every trip, slip and fall was executed flawlessly, so much so that you actually believe they were accidents.
4. The dancing.
5. The constant presence of obscure animals.
In conclusion, the Dick van Dyke show is a treasure.
