Netflix recently added Season 12 of "Grey's Anatomy," and I've been binge watching it. I've watched the show for years now, and there's one thing about this show I just can't stand. Owen Hunt drives me insane, and I fantasize about writing a traditional Shondaland demise.
Hunt did not make a good first impression, either. When he arrives on his first day, he stabs a bunch of live pigs and makes the interns and residents keep them alive. I get what the writers were doing with the storyline, but it doesn't mean I like it. I could tell it was not going to be a good relationship.
The real issue I have with Owen is how he treated Cristina Yang.
The first time he causes a big issue is when he CHOKES HER. I recognize he has PTSD and the ceiling fan triggered him, but he was not ready for a relationship. He needed to take care of himself and not put that responsibility on Cristina. I officially did not like him.
I LOVED Teddy. She was finally happy and in love with Henry, and Shonda had to go off and kill Henry. Now of course OWEN has to go and fire Teddy because he doesn't like how she is acting at work. He was the one who didn't tell her when her husband died. It's so disrespectful.
Owen and Cristina basically have an extremely toxic relationship and fight constantly. During one of these fights, Owen cheats on Cristina. I've been cheated on multiple times, and this is when my distaste for Owen got personal. You don't cheat on Cristina Yang and get away with it.
Cristina's whole personality is focused and driven. It's clear from the first episode she isn't interested in raising a family and being a housewife. Owen keeps expecting her to change her mind and pop out 2.5 kids. When Yang unexpectedly gets pregnant, she uses her legal right to have an abortion. Owen gets all mad at first, but then accepts it. Then all of a sudden he's over being supportive and can't be with her unless she births his hideous ginger babies.
Owen and Cristina had such an unhealthy relationship. He took pieces of her so she would fit his idea of what she should be.
Every time he sang during the musical episode, my soul died a little.
This whole episode was a disaster, to be honest.
I was so relieved when Cristina escaped this disastrous romance. Then, Owen goes and gets with AMELIA. How is he getting all these beautiful women? He has such waxy skin, and I'm pretty sure he is missing some teeth.
Shonda, please write Owen off this show. I can't take much more of this blasphemy.
