Realize the things you want to change and change them

A couple friends told me last year that if I wanted to change something, all I had to do was change my situation. It seems kinda sad that most of us wish were in a different place then we are at now. For me, it is transferring to a university of my choosing where I can be free to finally be myself and do the things I wish I had done to begin with. Sometimes change comes with knowing exactly what you want in life and the changing starts with realization.

Realization is the first step towards change. You realized something today, whether that be that you actually wore pants today or that you want to be somewhere different career or school-wise. Little steps people: life only happens once and most of us are messing it up. What do I mean? I mean that we are so miserable sometimes that we are letting things pass us by that could save us the trouble of have ever been unhappy. Realize this: if you so desperately want things to change for yourself, you are one step in the right direction.

The second step in realizing stuff is actually taking the steps to get there. Your goal setting should be put into motion by now. You've already mapped out what you want in life, now you are succeeding and maybe failing at a few things. Failing is a big part of what I know to get to where I want to be. I haven't transferred yet, I actually set a goal to at the beginning of 2016 to transfer right now, but it seems that wasn't as realistic as I might have thought. Not to my fault, but I found out what I wanted in that and I actually like where I go to school now, even though it isn't a university yet. University is my ultimate goal. If I make it there, I am a success story. Don't you want to be a success story too? I'm not doing this for the glory, I want this for my future goal as a educator or a really awesome publisher.

This step is final. You finally made your goal and it can be really big or really small. Getting out of bed in the morning is something some people can't do, but if that's your goal, then that's great. My goal is so big to me that sometimes it's all I can think about. I've been patiently waiting for this for about two years now and I want all my progress to pay off, without my past holding me back. Realistically, this stage might actually be the hardest. The transition from prospective student to living it can be a strange and fulfilling step for me and I think I am prepared for it. I am currently prepping for it by putting my goal towards getting better and better grades each semester and I am doing that. My goal this semester is all A's! Seems quite daunting but I think its not unrealistic. But going back to everyone else, whatever you feel you can achieve, do it. Please do it, because people have been rooting for me from the beginning, and I am rooting for you. I get whatever you want, I want you to get what you deserve too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
