PSA: The Pokéworld has found the very best, and he goes by HugLyfe.
A new meaning for "camaraderie" introduced itself to the world on July 6, 2016 in the form of a phone app. The game is called PokémonGo (as I'm sure anyone with internet access would know) and it has been all the rage since the moment it made its appearance in app stores across the mobile universe.
Since then, people have formed a newfound joy in walking outside of home comfort and into the world, or as we know it now, the "Pokéworld"--and, not to mention, creating life-long friendships along the way.
Though it is a game that is expanding communities across the globe, the central objective is to catch 'em all, any way you can, anywhere you can; and really, it's every man for them self. The competition becomes fierce when a rare Pokémon makes its appearance and one player is able to make the capture, while the other is not (WARNING: said scenario is known to tear friendships apart). But amidst the stiff competition, there is one man who is our very first Pokémon Master.
His name is Nick Johnson, AKA HugLyfe, is a Brooklyn native that, according to Buzzfeed, walked an average of 8 miles a day for two whole weeks (totaling near 95 miles), achieving level 31, catching 4,629 Pokémon, completing his Pokédex, and losing an astonishing 10 pounds in the tedious process (not to mention, making it to his 50 hr/week job).
If that isn't enough to convince you that he is a master, allow me to inform that his efforts included ordering an Uber and hastily catching a train to New Jersey, all to catch a Dratini. This man has essentially reinvented the definition of a winner. What is the master up to now?
“Go home, grab my two real-life Pokémon — my two little dogs — and cuddle with them and go to sleep," said Johnson. It is no longer a surprise the lengths players will take to "fulfill their destiny." Let this be a lesson to all: never give up, one day, you may be a master, too
PS. He's Team Valor.
