Are You Ready To Move In?

With the summer coming to an end and move-in day approaching fast, here are some of the things to make sure you do not forget.

1. Say goodbye

Maybe goodbye is not the right word, see you later is more fitting. Family is important and they will be missing you while you are away so make sure you do all the house visits to the aunts, uncles, grandparents, and so forth. The next time you see them will be in a few months, maybe more, so make sure to tell all your loved ones goodbye. Plus if you do not do this you will be hearing from them about it and you do not want that. This includes saying goodbye to all the friends that will not be attending the same school as you. Make sure to make some fun memories this summer with them because you might not see them until winter break. So spend time with friends and family before you go off.

2. Make a List

I am a very organized person and I like to make list so that I can know everything I need to have on moving day. Once you have everything packed, or even before you start packing, I think it is a great idea to make a list of everything you are taking and how many boxes you should have in the car. This way you decrease the chances of forgetting something at home. Not only is having a checklist of everything you are taking important but so is having a shopping list. This is a very important step to complete before you leave. I like to make a list of everything I know I will need for school. This includes school supplies, toiletries, decorations, kitchen, cleaning, and so on. This way you can try and get everything you need at home and maybe even try and get your parents help with it. That way once you move into your dorm and unpack you will not have to go to the store and you can just relax for the day.

3.Get yourself ready

This is more by preference of course but it will let you relax before going back to school. I know that once school starts I will not have as much free time as I do now which means that all the shows I have started this summer will not get finished for quite a while so I like to take advantage of the time I do not spend at work and finish the series before school begins. Doing other hobbies works as well, maybe you have a book you started over the summer or a painting. Anything that helps you relax is good to do before the chaos begins. Lastly you should leave your home nice and neat for your return.

Getting ready to move into your dorm can be a stressful and exciting experience, so make sure you are as prepared as you can be for the big day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
