The 2016 Race for the White House is certainly catching the attention of many simply due to the fact that the front-running candidates for both the Democratic and Republican parties are, in my humble opinion, incredibly ill-fit for the job of president of the United States. Where are the inspiring candidates who are supposed to lead the greatest country in the world? Where is the well-equipped, patriotic and reasonable politician who is meant to lead our people? Where is the next Ronald Reagan or John F. Kennedy?
As a woman with conservative political views, I have an incredibly hard time supporting the policies of Donald Trump. I cannot consider this man as one who has true conservative values. He is his own political party and just decided to list himself on the Republican ballot. You cannot offend so many groups of people as he has and expect any support from me, and trust me — I am not one who is easily offended. As a conservative woman, I will practically refuse to support the policies of Hillary Clinton. You cannot be a criminal or a liar and expect any support from me. Essentially, I do not want to "Make America Great Again," (or should I say, I will not support Trump's way of making it great again), and I will never in a million years be "Ready For Hillary."
As you can see, this is quite an unfortunate situation I have found myself in. I know that I am not the only American who feels this way, so what are we supposed to do? Vote for the lesser of two evils come November? Basically. For those of us who are stuck and have no idea who to turn to in this predicament, I am afraid I do not know what advice to give us. All I can suggest is that we pray that God saves this country from being driven into the ground by these two potential presidents. Maybe the Republican convention will be open and a new candidate will emerge. It is somewhat far-fetched, but I see no other way of getting around this mess. I, along with many others, find it very sad that this is the current state of our presidential race. Couldn't we have found two people to run for president who represent the greatest country in the world a little better? Instead, we have a businessman with zero political experience and a woman who is the subject of an FBI investigation.
Some of us who are politically aware are feeling just a little neglected in that we are not being represented because of the presidential candidate of our chosen political party. I know I am not the only conservative who does not agree with Donald Trump, and I know of plenty of liberals who do not support Hillary Clinton. I know that this misrepresentation happens every election season, but I feel that the misrepresentation is even more apparent during this election season. When was the last time we, as a country, have seen so much political dissension within the two major political parties when picking a presidential candidate? Although I do identify as a conservative Republican, I ask members of both parties, do you really want either of these front-runners running the country that our Founding Fathers built? How do you think they would feel if they saw who was representing the major political parties? If you answer "yes" to either of those questions, then be on your merry way, but if you ask me, America is in the midst of a lose-lose situation.
