When I was younger, I had decided that I didn't like "Harry Potter." I wasn't going to be like the rest of my peers, who were constantly plugging their noses into the newest book or waiting impatiently for the new movie to come out. I thought I would go my entire life escaping the "Harry Potter" trend. Never seeing the movies, reading the books, or even acknowledging the existence of Harry Potter World was going well for me. That is, until I had started to feel seriously left out on all the jokes.
Suddenly, I realized "Harry Potter" was never going to go away. A coworker of mine told me that she had been the same as me until she decided to take the plunge and read the books for the first time. I questioned if I was too old to read them, being 21, but she was quick to tell me that you're never too old!
So here I am, a month later, and I'm on the sixth book, waiting excitedly to have a movie marathon and beg someone to take me to Harry Potter World. Since this is a new revelation of mine, I thought I would share my thoughts during this process.
1. Okay, first book. Here we go. If you don't like it, you don't have to read the next one.
2. Ah, the famous room under the stairs he lived in.
3. Wow, these Dursleys are a**holes.
4. Dumbledore seems like someone I'd want to be my grandfather.
5. Wait, I want a letter to go to Hogwarts. Did mine get lost in the mail?
6. I knew I should have gone to Platform 9 and 3/4 when I was in London. Oh, the regrets!!
7. Okay, well, that got intense at the end. Time to read number two.
8. Two was unreal. Three was even better. I love Sirius.
9. What do you mean he has to enter the Triwizard Tournament? Ugh, Harry Potter, what will you do?!
10. Okay, Voldemort is back. We've got to chill. Stay calm!
11. Oh, thank God, the Order of Phoenix is going to save the day.
12. Damn, this is a long book.
13. What do you mean Sirius is dead? This can't be happening to me!
14. Oh, great, now Dumbledore is crying. I'm not okay with this!
15. On to the sixth one already? But I'm not ready for the series to end!
16. Oh, perfect, she's coming out with an eighth one... but it's a play?
If you haven't read the "Harry Potter" series yet, I would highly recommend you start now. Movie marathons for everyone!
