Another case of the "Raven" going around.

This past week, former actor/rapper/who knows Bow Wow basically said that he can’t relate to Black Civil Rights because he is mixed. One of his tweets was in response to someone telling him that he should care about the election.

*confused emoji* See? This is why no one calls you Shad, you don’t deserve that respect. He then when BACK to Twitter and said that everyone was twisting his words, even though we can see what he said from his own page.

Bow Wow even went as far as posting a mugshot of his father. The man in the picture is seen to be a light skinned person of color, not sure what exactly he is. That is fine, no one is saying he isn’t mixed. BUT, it is very well-known that his mother is a black woman and her ancestors were the one’s fighting for our right to vote.

Don’t get me wrong, I will never force anybody, especially a person of color, to vote because either way we’re screwed. That is definitely true in this year’s election, but anyway that isn’t the point. The point is Bow Wow is obviously mixed with confusion and self-hate. What do you mean “I don’t know what my ancestors was doing”? It is pretty well recorded in history what our ancestors did and went through, not even just for the right to vote.

Honestly, Bow Wow really let a lot of us down. Yes, we all made fun of him but we did not expect this type of mess from him. It got even worse when he posted the picture of his father to try and prove something.

“I’m mixed” … okay? Still mixed with black, still would appear to anyone else as a black male. It’s troubling because what if he’s had this mindset the whole time? What if he felt like he didn’t care about the Black Lives Matter movement because he’s mixed? What if he felt like he had no chance of being shot by a police officer for the color of his skin, because he’s mixed? More importantly, what if he teaches his daughter these same beliefs because she’s mixed? He really isn’t making the “mixed kid reputation” any better in everyone else’s eyes.

This is a sad case of another child star gone wrong, *side-eye stares at Raven*.

I would like to add a huge shout out to Black Entertainment Television (BET) for playing one of his old music videos and having “#WeLostMoss” at the bottom of the screen. A beautiful display of shade.

In the end, my honest reaction is…

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
