12 Signs You're A Ravenclaw, If You Haven't Already Figured It Out

The four Hogwarts houses are divided by what their founders valued most. Rowena Ravenclaw had the right idea when she chose intelligence but that's not all Ravenclaws are known for or made of. We may come off as know-it-alls at first but there's more to us than a brain and an affinity to stick to the books.

1. You're typically deemed the "smart one" of your friend group

You are the go-to person for school work or when your friends need the voice of wisdom. Your group often stresses you out with their rebellious tendencies and disregard for rules. You've maybe even been seen as the "mom friend" because of your ability to take care of yourself and others and dish out advice like you're a licensed therapist.

2. Possibly even the "creative one" too

Any type of creative expression, you're good at it.

3. You can get a wee bit competitive

Even if it's not school, you like to be numero uno. Participation trophies aren't the wave, you prefer first place and nothing is wrong with that.

4. Learning new things is actually fun

Watching documentaries and going to museums have to be some of your favorite past times. You could explore for hours upon hours if someone left you alone to it. You may be a little bit of a nerd but it's all cool. You do like exploring on your own terms, though.

5. You fit the stereotypical fan-person

There has to be something that you are crazy about. You can't just be mildly interested though, your entire life is dedicated to this. For me, it's Harry Potter and Marvel.

6. You have too many books to fit onto one bookshelf (or even a whole wall)

You don't believe that movies are better than the books and let's be honest, who does? You own a variety of genres and typically find yourself rereading your favorites over and over again while still having time to venture out into new stories. You also like the touch of an actual novel in your hands and not a Kindle or tablet of some sort. The smell of book pages is like a drug to you.

7. You always have to have the last word

Sassy AF. No one can sass you without getting talked back. It's almost a second nature to you to be as witty as possible. Ravenclaws, am I right?

8. You aren't afraid to be yourself

You know who you are and you own it. Why put up a front and have others Take Luna Lovegood, for example. Don't take Gilderoy Lockhart for example.

9. You've been called an old soul on more than one occasion

Whether it's your connection to dated music or history, you can't help but feel like you were birthed at the wrong time. Maybe that's why you're so wise.

10. You're extremely independent

You don't tend to do well in groups because you like everything a certain way and things can only be perfected if they are completed by you. You'd much rather work alone and not have to rely on someone else to do theirs as well so you can perform well. You're a bit of an over-achiever but that's OK, all of us Ravenclaws are.

11. Time to yourself is ~magical~

Being around others can be extremely draining, especially when your mind wanders and you would rather be curled up in your bed with a good book. While you might love a juicy debate or a logical conversation, you need time to regenerate. You're a battery. Go charge yourself.

12. You've taken the Pottermore quiz

The most obvious of all. If you aren't Pottermore-verified, are you positive you're a Ravenclaw?

While it is hard to find mainstream Ravenclaw merch, we do exist! We're also known as the greatest house of all time if you didn't know. If you're not a Ravenclaw, how many Ravenclaw characteristics do you embody?

If you've a ready mind, with those of wit and learning, will always find their kind.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
