Reasons I'd Rather Have A Small Celebration At My Local Dance Club Than A Big Blow Out Elsewhere

Celebrating your birthday should be what you want to do regardless where.

Reasons I'd Rather Have A Small Celebration At My Local Dance Club Than A Big Blow Out Elsewhere

Throughout the years celebrating my birthday didn't seem like a big deal. As a kid it was a big deal, from the place you were going to hold it to who you were going to invite. After awhile I stopped caring. I wasn't sure where to hold it and all my friends always seemed busy with their thing anyway, so I honestly stopped caring.

However, once I started going to Mishnock I decided I wanted to celebrate there with my friends and family. The first year I celebrated there was a blast, so I then decided I would go there every year for my birthday. As the people from the barn started to become family to me I knew I couldn't go wrong.

Being there with people I love, friends, family, and my barn family made all the difference for me.

So here's why I'd rather celebrate small at Mishnock than some big blow out anywhere else..

1. Family & Friends

The only time I get my family and friends all in the same place.

2. A lot of laughter

I'm always laughing because dancing with my friends we are constantly laughing about something. Most of the time we don't know the reason we are laughing, we just look at each other and laugh and can't stop.

3. The music & dancing

I love dancing and being able to line dance on my birthday is always the greatest for me.

4. Great environment

Everyone there are so friendly and so welcoming, it's my second home and my all time favorite place to be. And it's a safe place to be.

5. My favorite place to be

Obviously, after going for as long as I have, I can honestly say it's my favorite place to be. If I have a bad day/week I can go there and forget about it all when I'm there.

6. Not a big dealĀ

It's not a big deal, I just go to have fun and enjoy my time with those I care about most.

7. I feel comfortable

The only place I feel completely myself. I'm okay with being my normal weird self because I know no one cares if I'm weird. They also join in most of the time.

8. Meeting new people, but not being stuck with rude strangers

The amount of people I've met since I've started going is crazy. I am thankful for the friendships I've made through going there.

9. I get to spend my birthday doing what I want, with who I want

Because at the end of the day "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to" (but the crying will be from laughing).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast ā€œBirthdayā€ on anyoneā€™s birthday. I knew all of the words to ā€œBack In The U.S.S.Rā€ by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. Iā€™m not someone to ā€œfangirlā€ but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
