Desiigner

“I’m like a big ass music note with arms and legs.” Nineteen-year-old Brooklyn MC, Desiigner (born Sidney Selby III), has most recently soared to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 with his viral hit "Panda." Whether you first heard the unmistakable track ascending SoundCloud’s charts in December or sampled on Kanye West’s "The Life of Pablo" in February, can you really ever leave your home without hearing “BRAAP. Panda, Panda, Panda” pulsating throughout your surroundings? (The correct answer is no. You absolutely cannot.) But beyond his unavoidable first hit, Desiigner continues to deliver. His recent summer tracks "Overnight" and "Timmy Turner" are undeniably worth a listen.

Lil Yachty

With his trademarked cherry-red, beaded hair, Lil Yachty is unlike the rest. He sings with a high-pitched cartoon-like voice, he opts to rap over tracks with outlandish samples (like "Finding Nemo," for example), and his visuals are absolutely bizarre. Lil Yachty has introduced a completely new variety within the hip-hop scene at the tender age of 18. Listeners cannot help but laugh at his comical conduct, yet still genuinely bump to his tracks and bars. Although you have heard "1 NIGHT" and "Broccoli" all summer long, check out the visuals for this young, Atlanta-based artist. They include whale emojis, kittens, and Beyonce... how could you ever keep your eyes off?

Lil Uzi Vert

Joining the other thriving Philadelphia-born MCs, 21-year-old Lil Uzi Vert has risen to seemingly overnight stardom. Initially standing out on Carnage’s "WDYW," Uzi’s music has attracted fans with catchy, yet tasteful, hooks and rapid-fire verses. Lil Uzi has been touring around the US promoting his most recent project "Lil Uzi Vs. The World." Don’t miss out on playing his tracks this Friday night.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Native New Yorker from the Bronx, A Boogie has recently stirred up a lot of attention here in NYC. His fire number "Bag On Me" has over 5.7 million listens on SoundCloud. Take a listen, like, right now.

Vic Mensa

There are two types of rap songs. There, of course, is the kind that promotes throwing dollar bills whilst tossing back a bottle of Hennessy, but then there is also the kind of hip-hop that sincerely compels one to stop and think. Art is supposed to make a statement; it is supposed to make a change. Artists like Vic Mensa are accomplishing exactly that. Vic Mensa’s recent project, “There’s Alot Going On, streams words of indignation towards ongoing prejudice related issues into listeners’ minds. His powerful track “16 Shots is dedicated to fellow Chicago teenager Laquan McDonald who was shot 16 times by a police officer in 2014. Vic’s track “Shades of Blue highlights race-affiliated issues, specifically the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, as well as continuing police brutality. Other tracks on the album chronicle his difficult journey through the infamously ruthless music industry and overall encompassing everything surrounding the artist’s life. It is relieving to see artists focus on making a difference instead of making a dollar. True artists, like Vic, are here to reign.

Rich The Kid

Atlanta rapper Dimitri Rogers, aka Rich the Kid, released his mixtape "Rich Forever 2"loaded with features including Lil Yachty, Jaden Smith, Wiz Khalifa, Famous Dex, PlayboiCarti and more. His July 4 release date was merely one more event to celebrate.

Gucci Mane

#GucciIsFree. Exactly one hour after being released from prison, Gucci was back in the studio. He has been dropping music left and right since he stepped out of his cell. Listen to Gucci Mane’s first post-prison album "Everybody Looking" with features from heavyweights Drake, Kanye West and Young Thug.

WDNG Crshrs

WDNG Crshrs are a hip-hop duo comprising of Quentin Miller and TheCoolisMac from Atlanta. Check out their smooth hit track "Combination."

DJ Khaled

~Major Key Alert~ Khaled’s new album, "Major Key," is set to be released on July 29 stacked with artists Jay Z, Big Sean, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Bryson Tiller, Travis Scott and more. Check out “Holy Key” until then.

PartyNextDoor

If by slim chance you are not already listening to his music, meet the writer of the song you have already been twerking to -- Rihanna's smash hit "Work." After releasing his new song "Not Nice" last Thursday, PARTYNEXTDOOR has also announced the release date of his new album "PARTYNEXTDOOR 3." The album will be live July 29 via Apple Music and August 12 for all other digital retailers. Listen to the tracks released thus far from PND3.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
