Common Hour is the time: to attend club meetings, get a jump start on your homework, go to the gym, or in my case -- to get food. I have spent the past two years exploring all the different places to eat around campus. I have compiled a list of the places you need to go to, and the places to skip.
While the restaurants on Main Street are awesome (my personal favorite being Del Fuego) there just isn't enough time to drive there, get your food, and get back in time for your 2 p.m. class. If you have a longer break, then I highly recommend checking out the numerous restaurants on Main Street.
10. Cafeteria.
My first semester, freshman year, I spent all my time here. I somehow forgot that I was no longer in high school, and had the freedom to leave campus. I ended up paying $8 for a soggy salad. Unless they are giving away free food, I would make your lunch plans someplace else.
9. Wendy's.
The location is very convenient and affordable (which us broke college students love) but I'm just not a fan of fast food.
8. Panera Bread.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Panera Bread. If I could live off one food, it would be their tomato soup. The reason that it is so low on the list is because of the wait. During Common Hour, you will be on line for at least a half hour before you actually start eating your food.
7. Starbucks.
Everybody loves their coffee, but it's very hard to leave Starbucks without dropping close to $10. If you're looking for your daily dose of caffeine and to save money, they have 50 cents coffee and tea in the basement of the BT.
6. Moe's South West Grill.
"WELCOME TO MOES!" This friendly greeting is what initially drew me into Moe's (along with their fabulous queso). They have some solid food choices for all Mexican-food lovers, and the prices are fair.
5. Cold Stone Creamery.
Sometimes after a long morning of exams, you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. Cold Stone is my absolute favorite ice cream parlor! They have a variety of flavors and mix ins; plus they give you 20 percent off if you follow them on Instagram!
4. Villa Pizzeria.
Located right across from campus, it's the perfect place to grab a slice if you're running late. The pizza is to die for, and they also have vegetarian options. Fun fact, I actually spotted the Food Network's, Ina Garten dining there.
3. Sweet 'n' Savory.
Who doesn't love breakfast foods? They have a wide assortment of crepes and rice puddings to choose from (which are totally Insta worthy). They are never too crowded during Common Hour, and the service is pretty speedy.
2. Tropical Smoothie.
I first discovered Tropical Smoothie about a month ago after my friend convinced me to try it out -- thanks, Noelle! I have become obsessed, and this has become my go to place to grab something if I'm in a rush. Not only do they have mouth watering smoothies, but the sandwich and salads are great also!
1. Noodles and Company.
Words cannot describe how much I love this place. They have everything from Asian to Italian, and you can't go wrong with any choice. They also have a huge space, so it never feels too crowded. If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it.
