9. Merry Christmas Drake and Josh- Yes, this is on my list. I love this movie. It's in last place because it doesn't hold as much merit or sentimental value to me than the 8 other movies on this list, but I do have fond memories of watching it over and over again back in middle school, and there are few duos out there more hilarious than Drake Parker and Josh Nichols.
8. Disney's A Christmas Carol- I've always loved the story of A Christmas Carol in all of it's forms, so I was very excited when Disney made it into motion picture. Jim Carrey brings a new and improved life to Scrooge, and the Disney animation is nice to look at for an hour and a half. Disney always pays attention to detail, and makes everything they do an experience for the consumer, and this movie is no exception. For example, the Jacob Marley door knocker scene. If you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about- makes me jump every time.
7. The Santa Clause- Tim Allen plays an average dad who is rapidly turning into Santa, causing everyone around him to believe he is insane. It's a heart warming story, filled with humor, and it is always a staple in my house during the holiday season.
6. It's A Wonderful Life- This movie is obviously a classic, and I like it a lot, but there is NO ONE who loves this movie as much as my dad. I suppose it's on this list because of the sentimental value it holds for me. I hear "a pox upon me for a clumsy lout!" from my dad year round. Very dad of him.
5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas- I've been watching the Dr. Seuss classic every year for as long as I can remember. I can recall having marathon viewings with my family when I was kid, and we would watch it about four times in a row. I still love "Welcome, Christmas".
4. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town- From the age of, let's say eight, to the age of maybe 12, I watched this movie year round. I have very vivid memories of sitting on the living room floor, eating pizza, and getting into the Christmas spirit (sometimes in May) with this movie. And young Mrs. Claus aka Jessica? I wanted to be her. Her song ("My World Is Beginning To Change" if anyone's interested) still slays me.
3. Home Alone- I could write an entire different article about the first 2 Home Alone movies. Maybe I will. I can quote this movie word for word, and I do quote it probably every day. The reason it is number three, though it is funny and genius, is because there are two more movies that I think trump it as far as getting me into the Christmas spirit goes...
2. Elf- I think this speaks for itself. I don't know a single person who doesn't like Elf. Even people who don't necessarily like Will Ferrell like Elf. I LOVE the character of Jovi and the Baby It's Cold Outside scene? Damn. What an iconic scene. There is nobody who doesn't like this movie. I also think it's important to point out that it turned "Pennies From Heaven" into a Christmas song.
1. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York: I wasn't done with Home Alone. This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time, and frankly, I think it's funnier than the first one. Not only does Kevin get left behind by his senile parents AGAIN, he now has to navigate New York City at only ten years old. Cinematic genius. Five stars. The Plaza Hotel, New York's finest hotel experience.
