A rainy day in the summer is truly a drag. Instead of laying on the couch all day bored out of your mind, try something a little different.

Walk around the mall

Take it back to the days when your mom would drop you off at the mall to hang out with a cute boy--walk around aimlessly. Go to stores you never have. You'll be surprised at some of the gems you will find.

Read a book

There is something so relaxing about reading a book and listening to the rain. If you like suspense, I suggest anything written by Shari Lapena.

Make a meal you've always wanted to try

I always find meals that look so yummy and save them to my Instagram. My excuse is always that I have "no time". Now that it's raining you have all the time in the world. Get your butt into the kitchen.

Go to a movie

I really hope movie theaters don't go out of style. There is nothing better than movie theater popcorn. Go with a friend or go alone (it's actually kinda fun) and stuff yourself with buttery goodness.

Play a board game with your family

Yes it seems lame but no it isn't. Get your family together and play a game you used to play when everyone was younger. If family isn't readily available get some friends together and start a tournament.

Take a hot bath

Oh yes. Optimal relaxation.

Organize your room

My room can get real messy real fast. I'm sure as heck not going to waste a sunny day on cleaning my room. Now that you are trapped inside, pull out the vacuum.

Clean up your Facebook friends

I have so many Facebook friends and I have no idea how they got there. My middle school self added anyone and everyone. Take the rainy day to unfriend the randoms.

Do an at home workout

Come on, you can do it.

Paint your toes

I always give myself a lovely pedicure and then mess it up right after because I don't have time to let them dry. A rainy day of sitting is the perfect day to get a smudge free pedi.

Do something nice for someone else

You should do this on sunny days too, but you can start with rainy days. Hold the door open for someone, do your brother's chores before he gets home or bring lunch to your mom at work.

Give your dog a bath

I always forget that my dog needs to be washed. Turn on the bathtub and whip out the shampoo. Your dog might hate you for a little while, but hey you are both trapped inside together he will eventually have to come around.

Color in an old coloring book

Coloring is so relaxing and brings back a lot of sweet memories from the past. If you don't have a coloring book, there are tons of free sheets online. You will enjoy this more than you think.

Plan your week

Get yourself organized. It makes a big difference to me when I know what I am doing the whole week. I get more done when I see what's coming up. Make a poster of your week or jot in a journal.

Online shop

This can be dangerous to your bank account, but....I highly recommend.

Create your perfect sunny day on Pinterest

If you cannot have your perfect day, you can dream about it. Set up your perfect sunny day and hope that tomorrow is a bit less wet.

Clean out your closet

Create three piles: what you actually wear, what you think you want to keep, and donate. If you have worn something that month, you can keep it. If you are unsure about something then you most likely won't wear it. Toss it in the donate pile.

Start a new Netflix series

Netflix is killing the game right now. 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale are coming in hot with new seasons. Go through your list and start the first show that catches your eye.

Arrange your music into playlists

Passengers in my car always complain that my music is all over the place. This is true. If you have this problem, take the time to categorize your music by mood or genre.

Try a new face mask

I buy face masks and then forget to use them. Try a face mask you have laying around or make one from an online recipe.

Do at home yoga

Maybe you have always wanted to try yoga, but are too embarrassed to fall on your face in front of a class. Now is your time! YouTube has tons of options and no one can see you struggle to hit the downward dog.

Try a DIY with stuff you have around the house

You'd be surprised how you can reuse the junk laying around your house. 5 Minute Crafts has a ton of crazy ways to optimize your less used items.

Volunteer at your local animal shelter

You're trapped inside today, but the poor animals at the shelter are inside a lot more than you. Go to your local animal shelter and see what you can do to help. Even playing with the animals will make a big difference.

Try a new Starbucks drink

I have a few drinks in mind that I have wanted to try, but don't want to try when I have a busy day ahead. Go get a tall of the drink you've wanted to try and maybe you will find a new favorite!

Take a nap

The most obvious and my personal favorite. Goodnight everyone.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
