Racism Helps ISIS

Hate spews like kerosene over the flames of what we should have already put out

There have always been leaders who have led populations in fear. Fear is a powerful stimulant when trying to sway a person to do what is asked of them. History has seen it as a constant theme. Adolf Hitler used fear to take over Germany. His extremism and careful manipulation of the citizens of Germany led to World War II and the killing of millions of people based on their religious identity. In Russia, Vladimir Putin has used fear to control the nation. His constant remarks on his nuclear power have put fear into nations all over the world. We even see this today in the United States of America.

The USA has the strongest military force in the world. It is also possibly the most hated country in the world for economic, political and social reasons. America has power that makes most turn away. What America also does, is try to keep total peace in the world. But there are still extremist organizations that have been rising.

ISIS is today’s largest enemy against the entire world. They have beheaded, tortured and burned innocent people in the name of their beliefs. They are angry men, who have decided to take the most extreme actions against those who oppose them. How could evil individuals rise so high and bring large numbers towards their cause?

Recruitment is being made easy for them through bigotry, violence and stupidity of the Western world, making it easier for normal people to begin to agree with the extreme ideas of terrorist organizations. In order to stop recruitment, there needs to be a response from the entire world -- a response that lets the recruitment targets of ISIS knows that they stand against the violent destructions of ISIS. Instead, they stand in acceptance of differences and ideologies so that young Muslims feel they do not need to reach out to hatred.

ISIS targets the youth, bringing over thousands of supporters from all over the world. They have little trouble in finding fighters for their cause. Many have yet to even ask the question: Why do so many people feel the need to join a terrorist organization of such evil caliber? There are reasons that we see daily. The overarching reason is hatred. Hatred for the generalization of a population of people, who are being judged on the terrible, radicalized crimes of the few.

In present day, the leading presidential candidate for the Republican Party, Donald Trump, calls for a banning of all Muslims in the U.S., the tagging of Muslims within the US to identify them and he makes countless racist accusations toward Muslims. To have a man spewing this kind of ignorance is horrible. To have such a profound following in a nation built on differences is a nightmare.

Since the rise of Trump, evil and angry people are emerging from their shadows to cast blame to whomever they feel is responsible for the world's evil actions. To see this rise in hatred as a Muslim teenager would be infuriating. It makes radicalization quite easy. ISIS does a lot of recruiting using social media platforms. Younger generations are seeing these videos and thinking to themselves that they may be fighting on the wrong side, a side that hates them and wants them to leave. These young men might think they should leave, and fight for those that believe in their ideas.

Eventually, hatred is spread like fire in a dry forest during summer time, burning the world to ash. Young men will be happy to join ISIS. They have the idea they are escaping from the Western world where they are being viewed as lesser individuals because of different beliefs. The bigots of America and the rest of the world point blame to the Muslim population, which stirs anger, resulting in an organization willing to fight back. The fight is on. Sadly, it looks that it will not stop soon.

The main problems that arise are that in a nation of democracy where everyone should feel that they are accepted, racism still thrives, driving people away. Donald Trump has awakened the bigotry of a large population of frustrated Americans. He is now a leading candidate for the presidency of the most powerful nation in the world. For a disgusting man to rise up with so many followers this way is unimaginable for our society, today. But it is happening. As it does, more young Muslims are starting to question if they should stand by the Western world where they do not know their worth, or if they should travel to Syria and fight with a ISIS.

What needs fixing is the idea that different is terrifying. It is 2016 and men and women of the United States of America still cannot accept differences in ideology and skin tone. We are all human beings, wanting the same goals, which are to be happy, live a good life, and be at peace.

The American population is being manipulated. Powerful people are using the media to hate specific groups based on their differences. In history, hate has never solved a problem or ended a dispute. Hate has only ever started wars, destroyed bonds and created darkness among the Earth.

There still is hope that one day peace can be more present than it is now. Younger generations are beginning to learn that wars are being started by older generations and the differences they hate each other for. The young citizens of the world are then told to fight. These young men and women are finally beginning to open their eyes and see that the battles being fought are over the most inappropriate reasons.

Bigotry and hatred are giving ISIS the upper hand in finding recruits. As we go forward, we must educate the people that hateful violence cannot end a crisis. Only respect and kindness can bring men to peace. Of course, it will not be easy. It will actually be the hardest accomplishment to ever reach. It would, although, end disputes of all kind. People would see eye-to-eye, thinking about the differences and accepting them. Once the population begins to realize that participating in hate is the fuel for war, peace can begin to grow throughout the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
