Finals is a crazy time of year. Everyone is sleep deprived and just wants to go home. Some people are cruising on just a few papers and others are stressing over having to take four exams. People have different amounts of work and different stress levels but no one is free from anxiety during finals week. Last semester and this semester I sat in the library (most of the time pretending to study) and listened in on people's conversations. While studying and doing some practice problems, I jotted down a couple funny phrases that either completely confused me or represented finals week and reading days all too well. Here are a few of my favorite quotes.
"I'm soooo tired."
This quote was said by a girl aggressively chugging both a Zime coffee and a Mean Cup coffee. You go, girl! You got this! Sleep deprivation is a mandatory part of college...right?
"I hate tall people."
This was one of those weird quotes that I didn't quite understand because it was said by a tall dude. As the queen of sarcasm, I'm usually pretty good at picking up on that. However, this was not a sarcastic comment but rather a genuine distaste for other tall people.
Screeching cry.
Someone actually just decided scream in the library. I guess they just couldn't take finals anymore but it definitely caused an uproar in the library. Maybe he just found out his 30 page paper was due tomorrow or maybe he just decided to drop out of college. Whatever it is we are here for you, dude -- as long as you don't make that sound ever again.
"Shhhh."
Not everyone is good at being quite in the library. This constant shushing was done by people on the third floor of Martin angrily trying to get the second floor studiers to actually study instead of talk with friends. This shushing repeated a few times with little positive results.
Various screaming from the study room.
Attention study room studiers: We can hear you. We are listening to your hookup stories from this past weekend. We don't want to be, but we are. We hear everything and the screaming. Please stop because we want to study, too.
"Noooo!"
This was more of quiet, very sad cry from some girl on her laptop. I'm not sure what happened but you can do it! Finals suck but time moves on and you'll figure it out.
"No, stop. He's my Amish friend."
This quote really embodies the Lancaster spirit. I can honestly say I have no idea what this was about, but go you for branching out into the Lancaster community.
Happy studying! I know you all can do it! Positive vibes from me to you.
