20 Things You Can Ask A Person Instead Of 'Sup'
Anushree Rayarikar

Picture this: You meet someone cute in class, you start talking to them, and they seem funny so you exchange numbers. You go back to your dorm hoping your phone will light up with a text from them. Your phone buzzes. Anxiously, you go to pick it up and read what fascinating things they have to say. You open the text, and it reads: "Sup."

As scintillating as that sounds, sending a "Hey" or "Wyd" often results in a boring, short, agonizing conversation. Here are a couple of alternatives that I, personally, would have much more fun responding to.

1. What is your favorite movie?

Who knows, maybe this could result in a movie date!

2. Panera Bread or McAlister's Deli?

Bonding over bread bowls? Sign me up!

3. If you were a bird, what type of bird would you be?

As weird as this question is, it could give you something crazy to talk about, and you may find something out about their personality!

4. Cereal first or milk first?

This may make or break the relationship, so tread lightly.

5. Is ketchup a smoothie?

Think about it... I mean really think about it.

6. Who is your favorite Big Time Rush member?

Oh Oh Ohhhh Ohhhhhhhh.

7. Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts?

There IS a right answer here, ladies and gents.

8. Netflix or Hulu?

This will hopefully lead you to bond over your love for "The Office!"

9. If you were the president what would your first action be?

Obama and Joe

Side note: I miss JoeBama so much.

10. What are your top 5 favorite Vines?

It's frickin bats!

11. How do you feel about breakfast for dinner?

Pancakes all day, err'day!

12. Team Marvel or Team DC?

My answer would be Marvel.

13. What movie makes you ugly cry?

If they say "no movie" then they're lying.

14. If you got a tattoo what would it be?

Getting inked = commitment, ladies!!

15. If you had a pet llama, what would you name it?

Some great options include: Drama llama, Me llama, Obama llama, etc.

16. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?

For those who love spooky season!!

17. Do you like the Green Bay Packers?

Hint: if they say "yes" make sure to ghost them ASAP.

18. Coffee or tea?

19. Where is your dream vacation spot?

....and can you pay for an-expenses trip there? Pls and thx.

20. What is your favorite conspiracy theory?

The Mandela Effect anyone??

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
